Nope, I’m not having that. Rahic’s nutty ideas triggered players leaving, not the playoff hangover. Two or three judicious additional signings would have created an auto promotion squad the following season. Instead, Rahic let key players go and brought in inferior replacements. And then prematurely sacked SM when, despite a massive defensive injury crisis, we were still in a playoff position.

I can vividly remember Rahic telling us at the Matter of Heart launch why Stuart should be picking the inexperienced Jacob Hanson to fit his idea of bringing in young players from higher clubs, improving them and selling them on at a profit. Except that doesn’t work if they aren’t actually good enough to merit a place in the team.

10 games. Let’s see. We look poor but two centre halves gone is a massive reshuffle. Walsall are not too shabby too. But like last year they wobble with pressure we should have had them this year too…, Odour French loaves feet odour what u going man …. We go again.

I get your point, by all accounts Rupp has provided a top 7 budget every year, maybe slightly below when we've had some big spenders like last year. Plenty of teams have got promoted with equal or less, much less for some.
He provides enough that in one of those 6 seasons we should've at least gone closer than just 1 playoff campaign. I don't think anyone would disagree that the money provided hasn't been used well enough.
Does not take responsibility off of Rupp though. He's kept Sparks year after year

Yes he let Rahic take the soul out of the club and at risk financially. He has then employed an inexperienced CEO who was required to keep the club sustainable and up the letter from Rupp was the main mouthpiece promising and telling fans what would be delivered only to fail.

Agreed. The fact that there's been no consequences for failing year after year is on Rupp. I'd like to think appointing Sharpe was instead of sacking Sparks and that Sparks has been moved to purely commercial. He needs to be having none or minimal input into footballing affairs

Without doubt the biggest culprits are those in charge of player recruitment.
That isn’t Sparks or Rupp but there is the argument that player budgets have been squandered and are now lower because of Sparks handing out silly contracts and the person who hired Sparks was Rupp.
Ultimately in life it’s always the person at the top who ends up being the fall guy but it’s not necessarily all their fault.

They were ambitious. Just that Rahic was also clueless.

I disagree. The clubs should always be punished or it would be mayhem. These scrotes don't care if they get bans or fines, but the only reasoning with the majority of these turds is letting them know it hurts the club

Easy to be wise in retrospect. I think most of us were initially pretty excited at the prospect of new owners with money who seemed to have ambition for the club. How wrong we were.

Because whether we like or not they always fine the club that's how it works.

Depends on what you mean they were ambitious, Rahic told us from the off he wanted to find players released from Premier clubs (I think at the time he quoted the M62 corridor) develop them and sell them on, Rupp said they would not pump money into the club for the sake of it, and as @Offcomedun@Offcomedun says we saw exactly what they weren't prepared to do after our Wembley final instead of adding to the team Rahic tore it apart.
