The manager picks the team and has a massive input into player recruitment. He’s now had 2 transfer windows to put his stamp on things.
Who else do you think is to blame if we don’t succeed this season?

I saw the makings of a very good player last year. This season he hasn’t produced. He will know that he is not in form. He also has a Dad who will no doubt help him. I just don’t see the point of fans giving him a good kicking. He isn’t deliberately wanting his passes to go to the opposition. He gets some breathing space for me. Rest him drop him whatever but please give the lad some space.
    Great that Virgin have responded.

Carlisle caretaker manager talking a good game! Will certainly be more tricky than it would have been a week ago.

Must is win this... Carlisle are crap and have been leaking goals.

We must defend properly. But we won't.

Do we change the entire formation and methodology to suit an out of form player?

He ain’t Messi , rather a young man learning the professional game. He has to adapt .

Don’t you realise this is a debate about a players attributes but lets use it to have another try at being tiresome . Some find it too easy ?

Exactly so far they have got away far too easily and folk should realise the buck stops with the two of them
Managers have come and gone and we are still in the Khazi league what's the main constant in all this :unsure:
Alexander has a lot to prove this season (should he last it out)
Questionable signings even more questionable tactics and team selections
This is his team now he needs to prove and justify his position or Mr Sparks trigger finger will be activated

But they are responsible for employing the man who is responsible for the dire performances on the pitch

You're right. These next four games will be critical. Doncaster playing Gillingham this weekend as well. Should be a good match. Gillingham had a tricky start and are topping the table. Could be real contenders if they beat Donny.

Some will say 'a point against Carlisle who were in league one last season is good' but the next three games are hard. We need to be winning our home games and they've been in poor form, hammered by Gillingham and giving MK Dons their only points!

We all know what we need to do - start quick, get ahead, their heads will drop.

What will actually happen - start slow, give away a silly goal from a needless corner and spend the rest of the match passing the ball sideways and taking no shots!

Yeah, you're right, it's a ridiculous idea to try and get the best out of players by playing them in their most effective positions. Much better to tell them they have to adapt. I remember when we did that with Eoin Doyle, worked a treat.

The issue is that the kind of versatility being asked of players cannot be achieved at LG2 level, with any great success.

The thing is, we have plenty of forward options to mix it up and play different formations, so there is absolutely no need to be asking Kav to fulfil a role he is clearly struggling with.

Stefan Rupp is absolutely to blame for the clubs continual decline. There simply isn't any other logical answer.

I don't think a point against Carlisle is 'good', but I do think it's realistic.

Be interesting to see how Carlisle line up tomorrow. Under Simpson it was a similar setup to ours with the back 3/5 then pack the midfield and 2 up top. The caretaker in the trophy game mid-week played a 4231 and made a load of changes, so there might not be much to read into that one but if 4231 is his way forward, they haven't recruited for that shape.

Looking at Wyke bits so far, he was never the most mobile forward but he looks so stiff at the minute I wouldn't want him leading the line with no support if I were them. He needs a partner with him so maybe he wouldn't play a 4231 with Wyke on his own up top. Sounds like Ryan Lowe is the favourite for that job, wonder if he'll be spotted at VP tomorrow?

Are people really this one track minded ?

His fault lines this season are, despite we should apparantly give him a break ( Let’s not talk about it in other words )

Ball control has been very poor
Passing ability has been , too short, too long, mis directed or mistimed, or non existent ( Trying too hard)
    Shooting ability…..meh.
He’s running around like a headless chicken. ( Also stated by WYS commentators a WEEK after I and others had already said the same )

These are basic football skills, that are a key requirement of a first team player, we all agree, whether, defender, midfield, wing back , forward.

So can you please advise , an unambiguously , can’t be misunderstood , misinterpreted, unambiguous question .

How does the position he has been asked to play have an effect on any of these BASIC skills?

If your or you fellow fan, yes there seems to be two, wants to answer the question……feel free .

Surely that can't be a serious question?

Of course a player won't perform to his best if he's out of position or in an unfavourable position.

A goalkeeper won't make basic saves if his gloves are on the opposite hands.
An attacker won't score penalties if he's taking them with his unfavoured foot.
A winger won't put best crosses in if playing on the opposite flank than he prefers.

If a player is receiving the ball in an unfamiliar territory or position, i.e in Kav's case, then he's not going to be able to perform those 'basic skills' to the best of his ability.
