It's a worry because we haven't put in a single cohesive performance yet. Like you say we seem to have the players for a good first eleven, it's just finding that formula to get the best out of them

 

But are they all playing in their preferred role? We have Kav as a casualty of let’s play two roles or a completely new role Wright and Halliday.

 

Don't get me started on that! We have had a whole summer and more to recruit players to fit the system GA wants to play...Grrrrr

 

Although I agree with most of your post its not those on here who don't rate Smith we have to convince but the manager doesn't seem to rate him, as you say Kavanagh needs dropping he's not the same player as late on last season and if as you say he's being asked to play deeper its obviously not working for the lad, his strike partner or the team.

 

Other than Cook which player in this squad would the opposition worry about? In the past we had players like Reid, Blake, Marshall, Cullen, McCall, Wells etc, but this squad has no stand out player. I'm sure Pointon could join that list in time, but not at the moment. Is this type of player something that's been missing for the last x number of seasons? Who in the current squad could step up?

Cook, TOTS Brad Halliday, Sarcevic, Pattison, Wright. Odour and Bobby when they come on. We've got plenty for opposition managers to worry about stopping. If i wanted to beat us I'd be looking at overrunning smallwood in midfield and targetting the spaces between Kelly and Wright. Then of course doubling up on Cook and pressing our wingbacks and attacking mids to limit their impact

 

Walker mainly but possibly Wright or Odour on their day.

I do think we mostly have the tools available to push for a play off place but we're definitely not quite set up to see the best of them as yet.

 

If that's the role GA is wanting the second striker to play, we'd be better off playing Walker in that position.

I think Alexander has to find a place for Jamie for sure, and I'd be happy to give that option a try as the present situation hasn't IMO wet our appetites with free flowing football and goals.

 

Got to find a way of playing him as he is one of our best players. Nasty bugger who scores goals and dictates play

 

Without any evidence to back it up, stating clearly that this is just something that has crossed my mind; there must/might be an issue between JW and GA. There is no way that JW can not be considered as a difference maker in this team. I can’t see how he is being kept out of the starting line up based on ability. So that comes down to the set-up and again, I can’t see how he doesn’t fit, other than an issue between the 2.

 

If he was out of the picture I'd be worried but he's not. He'll play around 30 games as he has ever season

 

but in the formation we appear to be playing he is better suited to the role behind Cook than either Kav or Pointon, so I don't really see why he isn't playing

 

He was the only one who left the field with any credit from me, his play led to our goal

I think it is telling that these two posters felt the need to defend themselves with . I don't think it's simple teasing at all. There is a complete lack of respect that might be expected from a straightforward difference of opinion. It is a constant contemptuous and sneering reference to anyone who doesn't see things in the same way. I find it rich that 'grown up men' indulge in the kind of name-calling and pejorative language that is straight from the children's ganging-up-on-someone playbook.
Unfortunately, the ignore feature is not useful simply because of how prolific some of you are, even, occasionally, interesting, and it means a lot of threads become disjointed and lack context. May I suggest that the ignore function could also work for you in relation to anyone who brings out such frustration in you.
Quite simply, my experience of using this forum is sometimes unpleasant and I would like to ask politely and respectfully if the unproductive and unnecessarily denigrating language can be toned down at least. Is that too much to ask?

 

With respect. I don't want to get involved in any petty squabbles but I do think the bullying accusation is wide of the mark. I have had my spats with both of the aforementioned posters (they can be clueless tw#ts ). It's give and take. I have had disagreements with Park too but I don't think at any point anyone has felt bullied. Park stands his corner always ( usually wrongly in my opinion ) and I doubt very much he has ever taken any of the stuff on here to heart.
