Mate they had us for a ride yet again

 

Couldn't watch the game today but the starting eleven was very much what I'd like to have seen attacking wise. Smallwood as a deep player Pointon or Walker on the left Pattison or Sarcevic on the right. Halliday and Wright bombing on.
What went wrong?

 

Absolutely terrible performance today.
I left Blundell Park wondering what the hell was that I'd just witnessed.
Early days but that was such a disjointed team playing a woeful Grimsby side.
Not what I expected at all, the only saving grace was Alexander admitting the fact that was a dismal display by his team.
Come on City get your act together before we start to fall behind the likes of Doncaster and Gillingham.

 

What a shite away day. Ripped us apart first half and couldn’t string 2 passes together. Kav is SHITE as well

Couldn’t deal with their number 11 (lad who got the 2nd goal, Svanthorsson?) who I thought was quite impressive

Anybody who can make excuses for that shower this aft can take a run and jump. We are far from a stronger squad than last year. We haven’t played any impressive football so far

Gonna be a long old season yet again

 

I thought their number 20 was best player on the pitch, always available in the middle, able to turn and move and always picking up 50/50 balls, something we are poor at.

 

Vernam was class

 

I'd look class having to run at Niall Byrne.

 

To be fair, I've left this with more of a feeling of...... what are we?! I don't think thus 541/361 daft midfield formation we've played so far gives anyone a good game. It's life flooding a 5 a side pitch a goals with lads who know to pass. It's just mental so far as to how this team works.

We can't defend for toffee and we can't attack outside Cook. We're doomed for a 7th at beat for me with the squad assembled because we are repeating past sins and we don't learn.

 

He was terrible when moved to the right, he's not as exposed when central.

 

This should give us some healthy competition now with Carlisle players giving the usual let's show what we can do reaction of the manager going. I want to see the reaction of our team after the pathetic performance today and the match against a vigarated Carlisle side could show how good we can be this season or it may also prove we really haven't progressed.

 

My just over 1 year old Golden Retriever just did 10 minutes of annoying zoomies near the old Co-op saltaire car park in our "sneaking off for a pint" night time walkies.... and me trying to coral a pup after 8 or 9 pints, looked far more convincing than anything Byrne has done this season. He is a Kelleher, Richards-Everton type way past his depth but good old city hand out 2 year minimum deals like Greggs hand out Sausage Rolls.

 

We have 7 points from 4 games but i can't say i've been impressed in any of the games so far. Had to thank Mk Dons in the first game for not being able to finish, the Salford game was dull as although we did have a definite goal ruled out, Bromley was effectively over after 8 minutes due to the sending off and subsequent penalty and today was just poor all round. We have a tendency to be easy to pass through and aren't really a creative side. That performance today was against a team not brimming with confidence, their fans commenting in numbers that it was the best attacking performance for some time.

 

You didn't play well today , but as I mentioned to some of our more tetchy fans it was a good matchup for us in terms of the stylistic approach of both teams, much better for us than Notts for example .

I think you will be around the top 7 , Sarcevic missing today was a big one for you he always plays well against us .

Fans were great , chatted to a few after the game and they were not happy but seemed to think we deserved the win so maybe it was more clear cut than most games . We probaby won't beat you for another 26 years now .

I'm worried to see where this team fits. It's really annoying me. It's like hoping something from the middle aisle of Lidl can actually do the job for a year. I'm really not on board this season.

Its very early in the season but i don't see any signs yet that we are any better than the majority of teams in the division. 5 games in (including cup) and it seems we are hankering for early subs as the dynamism just doesn't feel right with the team he starts with. Kavanagh has made himself virtually unpickable, even struggling with the basics today. A couple of others too offering little in terms of performance, hopefully Alexander gives others in the squad a chance of a start.

 

I mean ffs why is arguably our best player ( walker) sat on the bench ????
Are we in for another clever bastard manager who thinks hes Pep ???

 

"A woeful Grimsby side" you arrogant *****. We could and should have had 4 and gave you your goal. There was only one woeful side on display today and it wasn't us.

In fairness, it IS Saturday night, so you do deserve to be drinking whatever you’re drinking.
