I think its more about the club recalling the leagues top scorer, not selling him when his stock was high, playing him injured (yes he returned with a niggle), telling fans he is like a new signing (just a few weeks ago), not playing him, then selling him for a probable pittance at the last minute. A summer of mixed messages about Jake Young from our gaffer.....

Meanwhile we have no back up for Cook and we are stuck with Oliver.

I genuinely believe Young wanted a chance to prove himself in a city shirt, and I also genuinely believe that at the start of pre season, he was firmly in GA's plans. There will be a difference of opinion as to what happened to change that, with many lying the blame firmly at Young's feet, but my own view is that once it became apparent nobody wanted to take Oliver or Smith off our hands, the writing was on the wall. I'm incredibly disappointed he's gone but it is what it is now. Let's just hope Kav rediscovers his form from the end of last season, Oliver rediscovers his from 3 years ago and this Sanderson lad turns out to be mustard. Not too much to ask is it?

People talk about Youngs promising start for us - he scored a couple of goals including a great goal in front of the kop.
But that was balanced out by appalling performances like Colchester away where he put in one of the laziest most selfish performances I’ve ever seen.
It didn’t work out at City and now he’s gone. No real loss but wish the lad luck.
Back to the main topic - I don’t think we’re any stronger or weaker, but that still amounts to lack of progress and strategy which concerns me.
Like you l, though, there are some reactions way over the top.

All in all a decent transfer window. Pleased with the squad and got a decent fee for jake, Glad it's over now and we can all concentrate on what happens on the pitch.

At the moment some fans are judging players we haven't seen or haven't had time to judge. There are no obvious Ash Taylors this year where we knew instantly that he'd be poor. I think as fans we need to take a breath and break the wheel of negativity. We currently sit 2nd in the table after our best start in a while. Apart from MK Dons, we've looked pretty decent and I believe the team that has started the first 3 games won't be the strongest combination we have. GA has given them a chance which is correct, but as he said, most will probably only play 25 games anyway. The concern is the keeper and Cooky, but on the whole the squad is decent and I don't see any other 2 squads significantly better. We are where we are until the next window. Let's not sit and wait in expectation for the first poor performance so we can unleash the hounds of hell. There will be bumps in the road no doubt, but we have to give this squad a chance.

 

Two months in which he scored only one league goal less than Oliver did in his full wonder season. Even you must see you can't laud Oliver for one good season and use the same reason to beat up Young.

 

Only question marks I still have are the CBs and where the goals are coming from outside of Cook? The CBs have looked decent to ropey so far, Baldwin had his best game against Bromley but Bromley barely attacked all game so it's a tough one to judge. Really not loving Byrne so far, reminds me of Kelleher or BRE, in that this level is too much for him to be a starter.

Kav hasn't got going, nobody knows what Sanderson can add and we've all seen what Smith and Oliver offer.

To some Steve the 3 Amigos have played a blinder but IMO this transfer window as been a complete waste iff we has a club wants to compete at the top end of this division.

totally wrong. Rahic didn't pick the team, coach it or set tactics. That squad, money provided by Rahic & Rupp was far too good to go down. Collins wasn't here long enough to do damage.

the only person responsible for us being relegated in 2019 is David Hopkin. As for why we are still here, that's a different question altogether.
