We have actually only added 5 contracted players to the club. The other 5 were loans. Given our track record with handing out contracts that isnt a bad thing.

But building a team capable of winning L2 and competiting in L1 is obviously off the table now......Sparks and Sharpe said it.

Its pretty clear the budget has been used though when you cross check against the outgoings. It doesnt look like we have invested extra funds to compete. We are just using ST sales and league monies to compete.

Hard to disagree with this I'm afraid. Its been a poorly managed situation, if he goes on to tear it up in L1, it'll just show us up as being even more of an amateur set up, and do our reputation no favours.

Sharpes as had a easy ride since joining the club but he's fully culpable in this latest farce, im afraid whether the club like it or not it wont belong before those bags are opened

    So our Ins now the windows has closed are;

    Byrne - centre back
    Baldwin - centre back
    Shepherd - centre back
    Diabate - centre back
    Johnson - right back/right wing back/centre back
Benn - right back/right wing back
    Wright - left wing back
    Sarcevic - midfield
    Adams - midfield
    Sanderson - forward

And the outs, including some from last season under GA:

    Platt - centre back
    Stubbs - centre back
    Taylor - centre back
    Oyegoke - centre back/right back/midfield
    Tomkinson - centre back
    Ridehalgh - left back
    Osadebe - midfield
    McDonald - midfield
    Gillead - midfield/right wing back
    Wilson - winger
    Chapman - winger/forward
    Young - forward
    Derbyshire - forward

I certainly don’t think we are any weaker, but whether we are stronger remains to be seen. I share concerns about problems if Cook or Sam Walker go down injured.

Some of the reaction is well over the top though.

It’s not poorly managed if Young has just been going through the motions - in which case we’re better off without him. Nobody really knows.

I hope he actually does nothing and then it might shut a few people up.

We all know you'll be ambling around, shaking your head, muttering under your breath and being generally distracted for the next hour or two now you've checked the news... the classic tell-tale signs of being a City fan on holiday...

The bottom line is after all the promises from Rupp we've sold a league one standard striker.I thought we were supposed to be doing the opposite of that.

I suppose how I would categorise is that we've gone from a team that had a reasonably decently performing defensive unit but weren't scoring enough to now not knowing if the defensive unit will be good enough because we've ripped it up and started again and not really done much about the underperforming attacking unit.

We've almost not really changed anything at the top end of the pitch - will Sarcevic and Sanderson along with Pattison get us 20 more goals - all the while assuming Cook doesn't have a bad season? But at the same time we had a defensive unit that seemed to be working OK towards the end of the season but instead of a minor, preventative operation we've gone for open heart surgery on it.

To me, it should have been the other way round.

Oh and we can't have Smallwood or Sam W getting injured all season.

I can’t believe you have just wished that one of our ex players doesn’t do well, just so ppl on this board and elsewhere would be shut down. @Wakefield Bantam@Wakefield Bantam

The reason this topic started was about whether or not Oliver’s signing was justified based on the two previous seasons it was. He hasn’t cut it here and I have never claimed he has

Wright was announced as the sponsor's MOM.

"Several players in the Bantams’ XI impressed me, but I agreed with the match sponsors who gave the Man of the Match award to Tyreik Wright. He was a bit more subdued in the second half, but I thought Wright was brilliant down the left flank in terms of offering Bradford a constant outlet."

I was sure I'd heard it but the only confirmation I could find was this from Bromley Substack blogger Machel Hewitt.

NO, it was because you deflected the discussion because you argued that Young was poor and Oliver fantastic based upon the same logic of one good season, don't forget that!!

The same “league 1 standard striker” who’s started 4 league games for us in 2 years.

If Walker is injured, and he's the only first team goalkeeper we have, are we allowed an "emergency loan"? I think we are, so that is probably what the club are thinking. If Cook gets injured (and he will, given his workload) then we do have back up of sorts, but not a lot of goals. Time for the midfield to step up with some contributions . I'd like Sharpe to tell us what our plan was this window - because for the life of me, I cannot figure it out.

I have never said Young was poor but what is clear it’s totally down to him that he has been a failure for us. Slagging the manager off and on his return an inability to do enough to earn a start

    Scattergun approach, quantity over quality...

We have a squad of 24 senior pros and 4 kids on senior contracts. Yet no decent back up keeper and no decent back up for Smallwood and Cook. 3 key players.

I honestly look at our incomings and I see Sarcevic who has qualities and Wright who has qualities but is a square peg (sincerely hope that works out as I like him) the rest are just cast offs or young cheap loans which are a complete punt. Once again we havent gone out to the division and made a statement by taking players off other clubs.

The Young money has already gone paying off McDonald. Probably....
