My take on the window :

Goalies - Worse off. Doyle a year older. No competition for Walker. Not terrible. But may end up being short sighted if Our No 1 gets injured

Defence : Mixed bag this one. I don't rate Platt as some on here do. Decent League Two defender. League One is probably his ceiling. Baldwin looks okay. Bryne meh. I have high hopes of Diabate hitting the ground running. Shepherd is hopefully better than Kelly in time to come. Ridehalgh was pony. So a combination of Wright an Richards can't be any worse I suppose.

The right back position worries me. Halliday POTS. But we immediately brought in cover in Johnson? who was a renowned sicknote. Surprise surprise, He's injured. So we bring in another right back??? Either Graham an Sharpe are smoking the good stuff or they know something about Halliday that we don't. Either way, I'd say the defence is improved, just about

Midfield - Well Patto is back, so that's a plus. But he's not a new signing. Sarcavic has good pedigree but hasn't pulled up any trees yet. Wasn't fussed about Mcdonald leaving but Gillead is gonna be a massive miss if Patto gets injured. As for the other lad that came in, who knows. As for Smallwood, if he gets injured or suspended, we're fecked. Not because he's amazing, but our game plan goes out the window if he's not in the team. - Meh

Striker - Worse. I don't need to say anymore than that.

Overall........I haven't got a fecking clue. Up the chickens I guess

 

Rupp never wrote that letter because the word 'yeah' doesn't feature over 600 times.

 

Well if Young fires them in to the championship and we are still in the kazi league will it have been a good move for the club. Just asking

WOAP have just hit the nail on the head for me.
We failed to get the best out of Young and we failed to sell him at peak time for the biggest transfer fee. Lose lose.
The club need to hope we continue a strong start and that Jake Young doesn’t tear it up for Stevenage otherwise they’ve just given us another large stick to beat them with. All on a knife edge at the moment

 

I dont know what's worse to be honest. Pissing about with the Young transfer an most likely dropping the price so that he can leave and also doing it at the 11th hour so we can't spend any of those funds

or selling Wells at the start of the January transfer window an then spanking all the cash we made from him on a donkey called Aaron McClean

 

I'm saying he played every week at Swindon, and was all of a sudden 'injured' when he had to come back here. And I'd bet he's readily available at Stevenage, on a regular basis.
And I'm saying maybe the issue isn't player.

And I'm saying, maybe you should ponder why a promising young player is able to perform excellently elsewhere, and secure a 6 figure move to a higher league, and not be able to get a look in here.

 

I tend to agree but the statement presented by Rupp alluded to investment in a squad. Now there's no doubt we have made some good signings but I see an inbalanced squad, around RB, CM , GK and a question mark over the 9 role.

Happily proven wrong on this but I have my concerns. Time will tell

If we do get promoted this season it will be down to the talent already in the squad as opposed to our signings this summer. Uninspiring transfer window to say the least.
