Seems mental doesn't it? Having 6 first team forwards on the books (in terms of money at least) and playing this 541/361 however you want to put it with all these lads here.

There's always the non-league window which stays open, to be fair a loan there for Smith might be just what he needs? Oliver, that might be his level now.

Another reduction in the players wages for the club then plus the fee from Fleetwood.

We’ve played with Kav slightly behind Cook as far as I can see. I can’t recall anyone being further forward than Cook.

Have you seen a game this season yet? I don't think I've seen Kav line up within 20 yards of Cook. Certainly dropping deeper rather than a traditional 2 up top, or even how they setup towards the end of last season.

It was the cash from the cod father that swung it

Out of that list of 6 strikers we're starting two every match

That’s true, but I think one of the reasons Kav is struggling this season is because he’s being asked to play deeper. A role which Pointon or Walker could do quite easily. In my opinion it’s no coincidence that Kavanagh played better when Walker and or Pointon were on the pitch. Both technically way above Cook and able to play him in.
Going back to the original point though, we don’t line up with 2 strikers side by side and staying up top.

Kav is playing deeper than Cooky and probably helps to explain why Kav doesn't look as effective as he did last season.
Even when he was subbed on Saturday, Sanderson (who replaced him) sat deeper than Cook.
I like GA but I sometimes find his tactics both baffling and frustrating. I thought Kav and Cooky up front at the end of last season looked like becoming a good partnership but GA has tinkered and now they seem less effective in their respective roles.

We can quibble over the roles they are playing but we're playing with two strikers each game, which makes the problem of having 6 strikers half as bad as if we were only playing one striker each game (which was the original point). Call it a 1-1 or a 2 up top, they're still forwards... even in the glory days of 4-4-2 you'd often have one leading the line and one dropping off them

Sky now reporting late championship interest in Young and stating Stevenage and Crawley have had bids accepted

This could increase his price nicely, if he goes to the championship then there is no real excuse not to invest in one or two quality players.

Maybe they're interested because he's so cheap?

If we've accepted an offer from Fleetwood, I doubt another team will pay more than the accepted offer.

While I am sad to see Young go, I think there is a player in there, I would like to see his fee invested in a quality CB.

For me, Oliver and Smith can both go as well. Bobby can play Kavs role and probably much more effectively. GA has earmarked Adams for that role too.

And this is where the problem within lies.
Supporters of our club have questioned the use of any transfer monies several times.
Personally I hope any financial gains are spent on squad strengthening.
Hopefully we will get an answer at today's presser.

Sometimes they pay a compensation on top to stop negotiations with the other club. A different level but Chelsea have done this a lot recently.

We usually invest transfer monies into 3 year deals and pay offs for talent such as Eoin Doyle, James Vaughan and Vadaine Oliver.

PS - Dont forget the reported £400k for the Wolves youngster.
