Even in his last season at Gillingham, he managed just 9 League goals, with just 4 of his goals coming after 1st January (24 games).

So what you’re really arguing is that we signed him because of the 1 productive season, the season before???

 

Lets not split hairs, but again you manipulate the figures to suit your narrative. It was 28 league goals in 82 matches, the number of MOTM is irrelevant as we all know that the MOTM is picked based on who, out of two or three people who performed reasonably well in a game, that the sponsors want to meet the most. There is no formula for MOTM and more often than not it's not who the fans would pick.

Is 14 goals a season a good record for a centre forward ?. Would you be lauding Andy Cook if that's all he ever achieved, you might but 99% of the rest of us wouldn't.

In three & a half seasons here Andy Cook has scored pretty much the same number of EFL league goals as that lump of wood has scored in his entire 10 plus year EFL career.

He was signed on the back on one season and even that was bang average.

I agree with the sentiments, but one thing we do disagree on was your final statement. 17 league 1 goals in a single season is not (by my definition) “bang average”.

The issue with Park Bantam is that he ignores the fact that Oliver scored those 17 goals in 20/21 and then reverted to BAU the season after, scoring just 9 league goals. Now THAT is “bang average”, yet we still signed him on a 3-year deal

I completely agree. I just didn't agree with his posts continually pulling apart an amount of goals, and from a similar type of striker, that his hero struggled to achieve. It's just nonsense.

Oliver has been very ineffective for us, so he should just say it as it is without resorting to pointing out statistics and making throw away comments that make him look daft.

 

10 mom a rating way above the rest of his team mates in a relegated side. His overall performance at Gillingham showed why we signed him that’s all I am saying. Not his performances for us. If we signed a striker from league one this week with that record we would be happy

As has been pointed out to you many many times it was 27 in 82 in the league and 31 in 93 in all games. However you still misquote yourself time and again and end up looking stupid.

By contrast, Cook has scored almost 50 in the same number of games.

 

And you always ignore the fact that one it was in the league above you also never mention how many assists and how well he played. Don’t know why we are into that again but if we were to sign a league one striker tomorrow with 31 goals in two seasons there wouldn’t be many complaints on here.
