Why when 3 nil up do we defend with all players in our own box. Put 2 on the halfway line and they have to bring 4 out leaving only 5 to attack a free kick or corner. Surely easier to defend with less bodies being used to block. Other than that a good win.

 

I believe we are a little too disciplined to get the best from Pointon the number of times he made forward runs to no avail was embarrassing at times, he looks a bit of a rebel but if you bring a player like Pointon on then you have to make sure you bring him into the game, IMO of course.

For the first 7.5 minutes or 8% of the match. Probably half of them had only touched the ball once by that point.

 

Thought defense was ok. Playing against ten men though so they should have Ben comfortable. Wright was very good going forward probs because again against ten he had the time tongo forward and probe. Sarce, not impressed so far faded as the game went on. Bobby, if he gets anywhere near the box he will have a pop and can finish. I'm not sure about his defensive qualities but think. I would like to see him in a Billy Clarke type role in behind Cooke

 

Yes , with 11 we were out playing them , and so it proved throughout the first half, even with 10. It was only the second half they improved because we took our foot off the pedal…..The scoreline flattered them , especially in the first half. Anyone who thinks otherwise must have been watching a different game.

Wasn't that mountain of a centre half who scored with the header the chap who played for Millwall for years (and against us) Webster. Think he got publicity for smiling before taking a play off final penalty at Wembley last season.

 

He showed more intent in his cameo than Kav did….he was poor let’s be honest for a change. Even the WYS comms team said what I said last week…..He’s trying too hard and as a result , his passing, ball control is abysmal.

 

We paid Forest Green a fee for Young that is why he had a long contract. He was not a free signing.

 

The sending off threw them off their plan. They have a decent manager, he got them playing to a good game plan in the second half. They will stay up, should be top half if they can continue as they have so far.

I somewhat agree that we were worse when the subs came on, somewhat because we brought them on at different times. For me Pointon added impetus second half and got a great goal, it wasn’t his sub the negatively effected us. For me we got worse when Walker and Sanderson came on tbh. Cook and even Kav caused a lot more problems and forced them back. Kav wasn’t great but he works hard and harried the back line all afternoon, you need that in the lower leagues against the cloggers. I suppose footballs all about opinions but I’m not as impressed as some with Sanderson so far, other than a few nice touches I’m not convinced by him. He seems like the sort a bit like Luke James who will just never look like having a shot. But maybe he’ll improve, atm with the criticism Kav is getting I think for some it’s just anyone but him so he seems better than he is. Just a shame Young isn’t available.

 

That’s a different question to which I agree. In the first half today they were made to look very ordinary.

Good win that. 7 points from 9, 2nd place, and lads like Pointon contributing even without as much game time as they perhaps deserve.

Cannot really complain. We can worry about this or that, but few complaints to be had IMO.

 

Pointon and Sanderson came on at the same time, replacing Pattison and Kavanagh. In my opinion, Pointon looked well off the pace and didn't really do much apart from his goal. Sanderson also didn't have much impact.
