We have a manager with over a decade of experience and a director of recruitment probably earning 6 figures......yet here we are with a crop of bang average CBs, no real LWB, no back up for Smallwood , nobody of any quality to challenge the keeper.

 

We have Oduor as well.

 

If the guy can take decent free kicks/corners has a bit of pace and puts in a decent shift in midfield - then he must be given a, decent amount of time on the pitch - for who for is any ones guess. He probably is one of the players we will look to put in a position he not familiar with as it is a City tradition.

 

We should always be looking to sign good young players for our future.

Like Jake Young and Adam Wilson, then we can just not play them.

This needs an email from the mods for being a WUM. These posts have zero basis in reality and have caused this forum to be full of back and forth about absolutely nowt.

 

Young needs to leave. Aside of one great loan period, his career hasn’t been electric. For the club and players interests, best for both parties he moves on.

My concern is quality competition and cover for Smallwood, Cook and Walker (GK), a CB and LWB.

 

Wigan newspaper has confirmed that Adams is signing today but interest in Jake Young has cooled.

 

How many moral victories do you usually need to get promoted?

 

Surely there'll be a few players and agents scrambling around over the next 7 days or so looking for a club. It's a long time in football terms, between now and January to train and not get game time, so I think a few will be looking around the changing room and seeing their position taken twice or even three times before they'll get a chance. It's a tough game at this level. All were signed with fanfare and promises only to be discarded in a matter of months, and not always because of their form. I really hope the days of throwing out 3 year contracts is the exception rather than the rule.

Hard to judge by a pre season friendly but any midfielder who can turn with the ball in central midfield like for the third goal is more than welcome cos i'm sick and tired of not having that kind of player, ala Dan Crowley at Notts County.

 

Barnsley also expected to announce a new forward today. If it isn't Young, you'd have to think that link might be a dead end too?

Its something we so badly lack although he would probably be wasted in a team like ours that doesn't play a possession based game. We have similar type players that like to go forward like Sarcevic, Walker and Pattison, probably the closest we have to a midfielder who can pick out a pass is Pointon but not a player who can dictate play.

 

They knocked back a 6 figure offer from MK last week for him. I'm amazed no L1 clubs have gone for him this year. Although last year was the first really immense season he's had an he's 27 now, it was still that great I thought he'd be on his way up. He had a bit of a crock tag on him it seems before last year, always had injury issues. He's only made over 30 appearances a season in 3 seasons throughout his career so far. Wonder if that's why teams want to see if it was a one off? But based off last nights bits I've seen, he looks like he's on top form still.
