Alexander has said he’ll use Pattison as DM cover if Smallwood is out for any reason. Seems perverse to me, given his goalscoring capabilities, but we do have the likes of Pointon, Oduor and Walker who aren’t in the current starting 11 and can cover Pattison’s AM slot.

 

Sharpe done a brilliant job with Johnson and Byrne so this one should be another cracker.

You’re forgetting that Alexander was far from our first managerial choice. He was, essentially, the only available lower league manager who would have us. It was a case of beggars can’t be choosers.

I don’t disagree on that. Hopefully he gets better at the positional stuff as his LWB experience grows.

 

Yes mate, I accept that but for the other times I think that overall he's been poor and can do a lot better.

 

No I know about Shepherd, I thought he was quite impressive and comfortable despite the first 5 mins of looking a bit wooden & out of place

This is what is a bit confusing. GA said it is going to be a loan of a player we've tracked all summer. But if Young does go the other way, then surely that will be a separate deal as money should be involved (you'd hope...)

Seems a bit "square peg round hole" asking Pattison to sit deep. Not at all saying he cant do it, he would in his own way, but Smallwood and Pattison have completely different skill sets. So making that switch would completely change the dynamic of the midfield and spine of the team.

I sincerely doubt much thought went into the tactical side of things. If it had, Alexander wouldn't have even been on the list in the first place.

 

I’ve been seriously underwhelmed by Sharpe and his influence. He’s another one who toes the party line. Am sure when he’s gone by February he’ll be telling which ever podcast that listens that his hands were tied, tough job, too many expectations and not enough resources.
