Why can’t he see that, nothing in his eyeline? A few fans saw it?

I dunno if you forget my man, but Cook and Alexander were arguing with each other because Cook wasn't winning any of the balls being sent his way - you don't usually have a falling out over something that isn't happening ;)

I like Sam Walker, good safe keeper who commands his box. However, his distribution is shocking.

It was the “ high volume” of long balls when it was seemingly just four, you missed the irony Jon.

Exasperation is one thing , “arguing” is another thing altogether , yet another exaggeration?

It's a gamble not having a decent back up keeper, but we've had a few managers now who haven't been overly concerned with not having a decent understudy. I like Walker but he needs to speed up a bit...

Agree, but he's not as bad now as he was in his first few games with us, good enough overall though ....

I think four long balls in one half aimed up the middle, when your centre forward is clearly being outjumped every time, is quite enough. And, in an effort to not be accused of exaggeration, I said ‘at least’ four - it was probably more. Nowhere did I ever say ‘high volume’.

The point is that everyone agrees that we have the best crop of ball playing attacking midfielders we’ve had for several years. So many that talented players like Walker and Pointon can’t get in the starting eleven and Gilly isn’t even in the matchday squad. Yet we continue to ping balls over their heads on a regular basis. It’s nuts. I don’t want a return to Hughesball faffing about at the back, but we ought to be able to play constructively through the thirds with the players we’ve got.

I sit right behind the dugout. There’s no doubt that there was a proper argument going on between Alexander and Cook during a break in play.

Not a big problem as you can loan in a keeper at any point in the season, usually half decent ones from higher leagues too. Think it was Crawley who brought the Wycombe keeper in for the last few games, the one who had a blinder against us in the pizza cup

I’m not too far away and I agree that Cook and GA were having a proper ding dong.
I thought it also may have been about Cook having a running argument with the linesman for not giving a foul when he was clattered in to.

GA seemed to be telling him to just get on with the game rather than using up all his energy having a running battle with the officials.

Either way,you could see both were giving and getting some back.

This a very good summary of my own view. I haven’t given up yet of GA putting this right.

The long ball to Cook was a feature, and although I have no problem using it now and again to catch the opponents out. We just have to make full use of our talent in midfield.

You can't. You can only make an emergency loan keeper if you have no back up. As we have Doyle and another keeper we would have to play Doyle. As long as you have a fit senior goalkeeper, who has played five times or more for your club, you can't sign one on an emergency loan.

I didn’t say you said anything of the sort. If you can find one example Id be happy to apologise . Some members ARE saying it was constant long balls up to Cook, my response was it was PREDOMINANTLY balls to either flank. ( Mostly off target) Cook didn’t play on the flank. I’m not interested in any debate about Cook and GA “ arguing” , I didn’t see it, I would say however it’s quite normal for manager and any player to have “ words” . It’s what adults do, so not sure why it’s a shock if it were to be true. As I said I din’t see it.

And I didn’t deny that there were more long balls played wide. As I remember, they were mostly from the back three. But there were still too many launched straight up the middle, mostly by Walker, given that it was obvious from very early on that Cook was being completely owned in the air by their CBs.

Moving the goalposts here. You clearly stated that the idea of an argument between Cook and Alexander was an exaggeration. I, and others who saw it from pretty close range, are here to tell you that it isn’t.

We then don’t disagree on the former and I bow to your witnessing of the latter . Does it mean anything , not really .
