I think the biggest thing to come out of all the sit down/stand up debates is the absolute necessity of safe standing/safe terracing to be reintroduced into British football.

People then have a choice, know exactly what they'd be getting and apart from the football, everyone should be happy.

Whilst I’m not condoning some of the alleged incidents that took place on Saturday, I do think the issues described above are all of the club’s own making.

Those chanting are typically young males with mouths bigger than their muscles. I once stood and chanted at roughly the same age as someone who is typically associated with the ‘atmosphere section’ .

Asking the ones who make the noise to sit down kind of goes against the grain. You stand up to sing songs. Sitting down inhibits this.

Moving them to the Bradford End is no good. What happens when the club wants this stand to accommodate away fans? Where will they go then?

They could gravitate back to their old stomping ground of K block, where at least they’re not upsetting so many fans. But you’ve still got the issue of standing, which appears to be the club’s reason for moving them to B block.

I’d suggest either turning K block into a safe standing zone with the necessary rail seats or doing the same thing in the top tier of the NWC and move them back there.

Mr Rupp would have to put some of that much vaunted investment into doing this but in the long run it would suit all parties involved.

Yes, I sit in the block next to the away fans and a couple of times we could see some kerfuffle with the stewards and those standing up in b block of the kop. And that was only the first game...:x3:

Rupp was supposedly at VP for the first home game. I hope he witnessed the goings-on in the lower Kop and sought some answers from Sparks.

I doubt that there will be a quick and simple solution for what is a problem created by the club itself. I have genuine sympathy for the fans affected by the club's decision and I hope they all make their voices heard very loudly.

Apparently the gradient in the upper Kop is too much for the safe standing, not sure about the NWC.

Think it was named the West stand in the original rebuilding and opening of VP in '86 wasn't it? I know Sunwin sponsored it but I seem to remember all the signage and on the ticket labelling it "the west stand".

Charlton Athletic have 1000 safe standing options in the upper tier of the Covered End at The Valley.
That's a two tier stand with a steep incline.
Think BCAFC might be trying to pull wool again.

Is the gradient of the floor the same as the upper kop?

It is a long time since I've been up to the back of the kop but I'm sure it is steep than this with not as much room between the rows

How does the safe standing work? I'm presuming everyone in that section buys a ticket knowing it's a standing section even though it still has a full compliment of seats, hence no arguments from people wanting to sit down?

In theory it's meant to be a space where you can sit down or stand up but in reality that doesn't happen as you wouldn't be able to see. The seats are there so that people have their own space to avoid overcrowding as often happens when a lot of people stand where ever they want at away games especially. The rail seating that is in europe isn't allowed in this country as the seats can't be locked.
A company did develop these seats a few years ago which allowed people the choice of seating or standing with the seats being higher than normal but it never really took off with clubs.

My guess as to why we've not installed any safe standing seats at VP is finding the right areas for them that would pass the safety requirements and also the cost. Everyone thought the cost would come down once it was legalised and more clubs wanted but then the cost of steel went up and that ended that. Shrewsbury spent around £70,000 just to convert 500 seats to standing, the cost won't be quite that now as they had the more expensive all metal seats like they have in Europe which nobody would get in this country as it's a pointless added expense over the plastic seats but the cost won't be too far off with it probably being around 75% of that cost per seat.
