If we had an option with Platt, he would still be here General

We didnt have an option on Platt, we offered him a new deal! He rejected and went to Notts County.

City can trigger a one year deal on Young whenever they want.

City have handled the Young situation appallingly.

Obviously a talented player there but qe have struggled to get a tune out of him. Called him back after a great spell at Swindon, played him injured, had 5 months out, bigged him up as a 'new signing', then not played him at all and ready to sell.

So many mixed messages from the club about him. No wonder fans are annoyed.

Never mind fans being annoyed, I'd be bloody livid if I was Jake. I'd love to see him stay and be given a chance but I'm resigned to the fact the club want rid and he'll be on his way before the end of the window.

I think you are wrong on that, I'm pretty sure that we announced we had taken up our option on Platt at exactly the same time we announced it on Pointon, but he left a week later. The difference between Platt & Stubbs is the latter had an option in his favour so we could do nothing, Platt's was in our favour so we couldn't force him to take it.

Pointon was the same as Platt, but we offered him an improved contract, which we didn't with Platt.

Happy to be corrected, unlike @Park bantam@Park bantam, as I could well have misread previous posts.

We wouldn't if was in our favour. We can take up the option but we can't force him to do it. We put the contract in front of him, but if he doesn't sign it he's free to go. However, if I'm wrong then I'm happy to admit it, and a quick search of the T&A archive would seem to indicate that I am wrong.

You have been corrected about this already but clearly you refuse to accept it. There were two players that we didn't have an option on, Platt and Chapman. We offered Platt a new deal but released Chapman. Platt decided not to accept our offer.

We took an option on Halliday, Pointon and Walker. We had no option on Platt, he signed a 2 year deal. It expired, we offered him a new deal, he left.

I think there is another year option on Young's contract, I'm not sure whose favour it is in.

The talk about goal line technology from Alexander is a non-starter, there is no way League 2 could afford the cost of installing the cameras and upgrading the floodlights. Even if that was affordable I'd question where would you put the cameras in grounds like Bromley, Harrogate, Accrington who have very low stands.

I've said this for a few seasons now but if managers really want change then should be campaigning for the EFL, Premier League and FA to find the money to make all league 1 and 2 officials full time professionals then we will see improvements as fitness levels rise and amount of training they do increases.

As we’re speculating on Alexander’s opinion of players I wonder if he’s a bit of hump with Walker not signing a new deal?

If Young is set on going then he cant do much about that but Pointon to me the lad should just fook it off if he is yet again gonna be a bit part player .............we all rate him other clubs rate him but for some bizarre reason GA doesnt ...............he can go on about age saving him etc but i doubt the greatest players out there where sat on there arse well into there 20s ..............he is ready now but hey stick with the same old guff drop off the pace then bring in Pointon when we are playing catch up ...............during our late winning run wasnt Pointon starting most weeks ????,,
Course hes bound to have the odd bad game but rather have that than some player who doesnt bring a thing to the party ..............put it this way if he doesnt start Saturday and we go in again with the same line up then simply expect a midtable finish .............i mean come on its Salford not a team that will cause problems its Salford and if hes not willing to go after them from minute 1 then im simply baffled

So in a nutshell you can run around in training and get in before a player who will cause damage ?????? Msybe he aint pyshing himself because he frankly knows he aint getting a chance to prove himself ............but hey so long as they run a lot in training and produce when it doesnt matter who cares

Just asking because I don't know. Do other clubs rate Pointon?

He was offered a new deal. He didn't agree to it. So we triggered an extension of his previous deal.

Before Saturday I actually thought league 2 had goal line technology. To me its common sense, its only a one-time cost. Keep VAR away but goal-line technology is not controversial and a clear improvement for the fairness and integrity of the game. No debate about it all EFL clubs should have it.

I don't think anyones mentioned Pattisons chance on 25th minute, opened up for him but he passed to Kav. That's a goal for me if he shoots, i was already off my seat ready for him to tuck it away.
Defence looked fine. Kelly and Byrne need to improve their long balls. I like Kelly though, you know what you'll get from him he's no nonsense. Baldwin the most suited to taking the ball forward, good with the ball for a defender and played well.
Midfield the biggest dilemma with GA spoilt rotten in terms of options. Don't repeat last seasons mistake with Pointon please. Him, Odour and Walker should get plenty of chances though with how much you can rotate them.
Genuinely not surprised to see a couple slagging Cook off. It's his 5th season with us now and some still can't seem to see what he brings. Lad behind me was moaning about him right before his goal that wasn't, I would've loved that to shut him up. Just wait til he's gone and see how long it takes us to find another guaranteed 20 goals a season.

I don't think anyone would disagree but who's paying for it? The costs aren't insignificant and there could well be huge upgrades needed to infrastructure so that it's even possible.
