Looked really good against us in the League cup when Blackburns youth team beat us at Valley Parade in 2022.

 

Joe Adams is another attacking midfield player I believe?. Surely we have enough of them when Pointon and Walker cannot even get in the starting X1.

We need a defensive midfield player as priority surely?

 

They had some team out. A young Adam Wharton running the show, you could tell that night he was gonna be something special, and then the likes of Tyler Morton, Markanday and Thyriss Dolan.

 

We are desperate for a Lewis O'Brien type midfielder, someone who can put their foot on the ball and is mobile. That midfield yesterday until Pointon and Oduor came on was painfully immobile. At times it was just Smallwood left on his own.

 

Oh yes I remember him now. He was pretty good on the night I recall.

 

I’ve got a bad feeling that Sarcevic is going to be another expensive flop, he’s another older player that’s come here for a final big pay day. Pointon lifted our midfield yesterday with energy and is the future.

 

I genuinely believe Pointon offers something different than any of the current AMs we seem to start with. His creativity (and link up with Odour yesterday) was a level above and we gained so much more of a threat on the left when they came on. He's done enough already, as he did last season, to be starting for me. If he'd have started as he should have against Grimsby, I wager we'd have been in the hat for round 2. Starts for me against Bromley

 

Trouble is that he is so good for this league it probably wouldn't be too long before he got a right clobbering from some hairy arsed defending thug....when do we play Donny..?

 

50/50 as to whether there's any truth to this given the source, but it's 2 more clubs allegedly showing interest alongside the alleged interest from Stockport and confirmed interest from Stevenage and Crawley. All league 1 clubs. Yet for some reason he's not good enough for Bradford City in league 2.

 

Pointon would definitely start on Saturday for me. Him and Pattison would have plenty of energy and both would look to break the lines which will free up space in and around the forwards.

Whether that's dropping Sarcevic or Kavanagh ...... take your pick.

 

He also offers a goal threat with that left foot shot.

 

Drop either for me, Kavanagh has contributed little so far this season and it’s annoying that we have a striker like Young who is not even considered as we seem to want to sell him.

 

Young doesn't want to be here. I think that's been obvious since he came back from Swindon.

He appears to want to try his luck in league 1 it's up to us to get the best price possible for him before the end of the month. The sooner he goes the better for the club and player.

I doubt we will invest the fee we get for him though in this window. It will be a last minute loan no doubt.

We won't miss him in my opinion as never done anything at all for us

 

Agree we won't miss him but we will miss what could have been if he continues his Swindon form elsewhere. He will be added to the long list of goalscorers who we failed to get a tune out of. I do admit it's a big IF though.

 

He doesn’t show enough in training and Alexander is big on that. If he wants a good move he should be giving his all

I've just finished reading Paul McGrath's autobiog (cracking read, recommend it). He wasn't a trainer, but managers knew he was a quality player. GA being a bit stubborn in my opinion. Then again, I think he's also been told to limit Youngs gametime, cos he's our most saleable asset. I would just like this long drawn out situation sorted - its just like the Doyle situation. Get Young sold asap, giving us enough time to find a replacement or new addition.

 

How do you know that? Are you at training every day and do you have all training stats to back that up? I don't mind folk having an opinion on his playing ability but getting a little tired of this idea that he somehow just doesn't put the effort in.

 

I'm not sure why you bothered.

 

If we are to believe that then the effort must have dropped off after the Grimsby game because he was in the matchday squad for that game and against MK Dons. Smith meanwhile must have been a right lazy f*cker up until Wednesday this week and then must have been a beast in training the last couple of days to earn his place on the bench yesterday. It's nonsense and the most likely scenario is that there have been no takers for Smith whereas interest in Young is hotting up.
