We we were well under par today, but still never looked like losing. We should have actually won as Cook's shot was clearly over the line.

 

Probably saying to him what a lot of fans think but daren’t on here in fear of the “Cook defense league” jumping on them

 

Cook is a fine forward but was isolated all first half while we launched ridiculous balls at him.

 

It wasn’t even a long ball to him
It was a deflected ball which he failed to attack or even attempt to win
I can see why Alexander was having a go

Maybe Cook has a fear of heading the ball?

He's got form for this. Everyone constantly getting lip from him. He never gives any encouragement. His on field conduct is abysmal. Really problematic attitude.

We didn't really look like conceding but we never looked any different to last season. I'm not sure what plan B was but it looked very similar to plan A which didn't work either. As you say it's early days so fingers crossed that the penny finally drops.

 

Another one is Smallwood who thinks he can moan and complain about every decision to the referee all day long.

 

shit performance once again. How many managers does it take to realise you don't sit back when your playing at home in front of 15k fans??

Kavanagh was piss poor today. Not for the first time this season either. Why are we getting rid of Young when we have nobody that can actually partner cook?

Midfield balance all wrong. Too exposed on the counter. No bite an substance on the attack. How can we have Walker, Gillead, Smallwood, Pattison, Sarcevic, an still struggle to dominate a midfield battle in League Two??

It's the manager to blame for it. He needs to shut his fecking mouth about the fans an tell the team to stand 10 yards higher up the pitch. You ain't winning no games by sitting back at home

I asked what more you wanted him to do today and you said “Not passing backwards”. Conveniently sidestepping the set piece point I see. It’s pretty clear you made some stuff up to fit your agenda (or genuinely we’re watching a different game). It’s fine, just own up that you were talking rubbish with both points.

My initial point was that Smallwood had a decent game and did what is expected (won the ball back numerous times, kept the ball ticking over, switched it out wide a few times to open up space). Of the 3 starting midfielders he was the least problematic.

 

So I didn't say only passing backwards. Thanks for finally admitting you were wrong and I made nothing up.

 

Salford clearly had the better of the first half, outworking us, pressing us and beating us to too many loose balls. Often our players don't seem to be in the right positions to anticipate where a ball might drop and unable to win back possession.

The second half we started to up the ante, Salford lost their own intensity and our energy from the bench saw us look the more likely to win the game.

A couple of points on individual players.

I thought Baldwin had a good game. He won his individual defensive battles and his balls into our forward players were actually played with purpose and not random hoofs up the pitch.

Kav looked our weakest link and needs to be dropped.

 

Ok see at the end of the season but nothing in our first 3 games has changed my mind ............nothing but huff and puff yet again ........yes the Cook goal should have stood but please tell how many other decent chances did we create ????? Was there keeper really tested ???????

I decided to purchase food yesterday. The meat and potato pie. Apparently home made, it was disgusting far too salty for my taste, the other half ate it. So still no decent food. No healthy food to be had anywhere.

My park and ride scheme came off the rails yesterday. I didn’t get home until 6:30pm, the journey home was awful, we waited 1/2 hour for a bus when it came there were no seats left. We had to stand for nearly the whole journey. So will definitely not be doing that again. So unless we can find somewhere to park, that is not far away from the ground, we will won’t be going.
