I'm just hoping this is the year Salford Media City disappear back into non league obscurity.

I honestly don't get the Cole Stockton thing. He's a lump of wood, cut from the same block as Vadaine Oliver, he's basically had one good season in his entire career and people make him out to be "a handful". He's another who, in terms of what he brings to a team, isn't fit to suck James Hanson's boot laces clean.

This year is my first go at the prediction league. Not sure how I'll do because up to kick off I always think we are going to win whoever we are playing. I haven't got it in me to predict a defeat.

No I agree, not bigging him up just saying out of a poor Salford team that's the only one I'd really keep an eye out for.

Would like to see Pointon get some game time. I thought he looked really positive when he came on came on at Grimsby. Not afraid to turn and pass/run forward with the ball. Quite an array of talent we have in the midfield now, no excuse not to play on the front foot and attack from the start. Even if the defence is a bit questionable we have the attacking players to keep the pressure in the opposition half.

To follow on from the post above by @alex@alex, I think Oduor deserves a start at LWB

Annoying because it feels like now that it's happened once it's less likely... but I still see Pattison as one of our most dangerous players, he seems to start seasons very well, and hopefully he can stay fit this time!

Cook would have been mine (and everybody else's, probably) second pick.

    Morning all

    Salford fan here.
Just wanted to let you know about the preview for today's game I recorded with Bradford fan Ewan Hudson, which is now available on Spotify.

We cover lots of topics including Bradford's recruitment policy, their 3-5-1-1 formation as well as discussing the similarities between Andy Cook and Salford City's top scorer last season, Matt Smith.

Although my expertise is Salford City we have a detailed chat about the Bradford v MK Dons game which I'd also watched. I felt there were signs there of Bradford's style of play changing from what I'd been used to as I noticed you were much more careful in possession. Especially so in your own half. So much so, you actually reminded me of Graham Potter's Brighton team which is not a similarity I thought I would find.

In my view, probably the most important element covered in the pod which could impact today's result is Salford choice of tactics. So far this season we have played a 4-2-3-1, which changes to a 3-2-5 in possession. The biggest risk we take is having our left back leave the defensive line to join our four attacking options up front. We've essentially rolled the same plan out all pre season, as well as in the first two games of this campaign. Apart from it now being very predictable it's also not worked too much in our favour so far.

Against Bradford's 3-5-1-1 I think we are asking for trouble in the space vacated by our left back pushing forward. I expect Brad Halliday to have a field day down that side of the field, while Tyreik Wright's pace could cause major issues against our right back who isn't the quickest on the other flank.

Two of our three available centre backs are the wrong side of thirty, so may get exposed against Calum Kavanagh's movement and pace from counter attacks.

We have also struggled this year from from set pieces as without a recognised target man to rely on at both ends of the pitch we are a relatively small team. Although our biggest centre half, Curtis Tilt, will probably take care of the aerial duels against Andy Cook, it is the matchups against our attacking players that you may be able to exploit, especially from a corner.

Anyway, as you can probably tell from what I've written here, I'm not expecting much from today's game, for Salford, but it's 11 vs 11 and anything can happen I suppose.

If you fancy a bit more detail on any of the above points then give the podcast a go, I'll pop the link below.
    Hope you enjoy the game.

The only ones who should be worried about our set pieces are the pigeons...
