I said what was happening last week …GA using his “ manager” nous brings, “ results” this. I am not in the slightest surprised.

I think despite the promises, they looked at the league this season and rather than thinking 'it's not as strong as last year, with a bit more investment we can smash this' they've thought 'it's not as strong this year, we probably don't need that extra investment after all'. Mismanagement and naivety yes, with a big dollop of complacency and tightfistedness on the side.

They went out and signed a crock from Mansfield, a reserve from Stockport and a player who was released by the worst defence in the country - then realised we werent as strong.

Quite a few of us on here raised the alarm bells some weekd ago. Why did the professionals think they were signing promotion winning players?

 

The end of the window is looming, we must get the correct players in. I have kept saying this for months now. It is good that we can release funds for the players we need, but we are making it more expensive than we need. We are still paying for the massive mistakes of previous managers, and no matter how much it hurts financially Rupp has to put that right. Players will need to be paid off, and there is no way of getting round this, they are not likely to go to other clubs, as they are on big salaries despite limited skill level. I did say it was a balancing act and a gamble to try and find other clubs and our need to be able to find players we need. This is a very late cut off point.

 

I agree with you about not speaking about the extra funding but some folk on here say we shouldn't listen to what that manager says at these press conferences anyway so it's OK, you can just pretend he didn't say it.

I don't remember anyone praising Carlisle's recruitment, let alone everyone. Even Carlisle fans aren't praising it apart from Wyke, and most of them acknowledge they've only got him because they were willing to pay over the odds for him.

 

We have played 2 games, won away at MK, drawn away at Grimsby, in a game we really should have won and probably would have but for Smallwood's pen miss and i still can not see why our goal was disallowed.
The losing on pens bit is irrelevant, as its a lottery, ask our multi millionaire England players.
Its a reasonable start, with apparently a defense that is like the red sea parting for attackers.
A win on Saturday and it becomes a fairly good start.
If we carry on playing poorly according to some, but carry on wining games. who cares.
The aim is to get out of this league, and i for one do not care how we achieve that, Flowing football or lucky football, 3 points is 3 points.

This is almost a copy and paste of sessions gone by though after a couple of wins Andy.

The point that posts like this ignore is that IF we continue to play poorly, we absolutely won't keep winning games which is why it needs to be addressed and I'm pleased to hear GA admit the same.

 

Comments like this make me laugh. No team in the history of football has sustained positive results over 46 games by consistently putting in poor performances. Performances are a more accurate representation of the long term trend of a side than results are.

 

First of all Alexandar hasn’t said we played poorly because we haven’t. And in this same conference he said we need “one more player possibly tw0 more” hardly a big overhaul is it

 

Ive pointed out a few times CBs that MK, Carlisle, Vale, etc signed have far ebtter pedigrees than ours.

Also, not my job. Professional people paid to do this but a muppet like me on a forum can see weve signef shite at CB.
