Maybe the club chose not to sell him because GA openly said he wanted him back and wanted him to play. But then he got injured. Maybe the club at that time was trying to support GA's decision. I have no idea. Just a different thought.

If he thought that much of him then why after them comments did he start the next game then only start 1 out of 8 games and also why didn't he get him back at Barrow when he was available on loan with only National League clubs in for him until Swindon agreed to take him?

To me they sound like comments from a manager who's realising he got a loan wrong and trying to say something to get the player going.

 

Rob Edwards and Mark Cooper too. Conveniently ignored....

 

He wasn't injured all the time he was there
Scored a good few goals and will have attracted interest before getting crocked

 

It would be stupid to not cash in and let him go for free next season

So, this is confusing. Last week he said we're on the "border of FFP", and in this interview (start at 2 mins mark), he says we don't need to trade/get people out to bring them in.

 

There's been a few contradictions or slight ones at least between GA and Sharpe or just GAs crossing his own words.

Talking to sky after the game, he said we might want one or two in but he wouldn't trade anyone for the lads we've got at the minute, or something on those lines. Even though it's fairly obvious the likes of McDonald, Wilson, Stubbs, a striker or two and maybe Gilly are available. And we're using Kev McDonald to help bed in the new boy they've said? Hope Kev is a top professional and puts aside the fact we don't want him anymore to help the lad. But another weird signal.... "we want you out and you won't play here, but show this lad the ropes will you?"

 

You mean we have to put up with this will he won't he until 2026 ? Jeez. Kill me now.

 

Unless GA has received assurances from Sharpe/Sparks that finances are ok to maintain the numbers we have?

 

Possibly, but those numbers will have been the same this time last week, when they were saying we were up to the FFP limit and it's a one out one in scenario going forward?

Unless Rupp has remembered the window is open and thrown some cash into a pot, the budget can't have been any different to the one that sounded empty 7 days ago.

 

Doesn't really matter. It is what it is. Don't hang on his every word-just go with the flow. It's much less painful.

 

I suggested Wild earlier today. At this stage , for all the clubs he’s played for, only Flynn made him “work” as a striker.

 

Kinda does matter if he's inconsistent. The position "is what it is" but then the position should be clear and not be changing in the matter of days.

He scored zero goals in 17 games whilst on loan there and seemingly Wild made no attempt to get him back on loan . It was near the end of that loan spell, if wiki is correct, that Wild said that Young was “ starting” to look like a striker. . After 17 games and zero goals! Somebody was pulling someone’s leg……? I’m not convinced, as it panned out , Wild thought nothing of the sort.

 

Uughhh, the very thought of that.....

 

If that really bothers you go for it. 40+ years of hearing managers say things that turn out to be made up leaves me quite sanguine at this point.

 

Half of the problem is people read far too deeply into management and business politics . For all we know GA could be playing a “ forcing” game, seeking release of funds. Remember who it looks bad on if he doesn’t get his way? It won’t be GA! It’s a smart move imho.

It’s a trick we all used at one stage in our careers to get additional budget out of the Finance Director. Over exaggerate a problem they have no knowledge of and bosh an extra member of staff on £40k a year . It really is an old trick.
