Monkey, I think its fair to say they defended better than you thought they would given your prediction? I know you'll have been ready with the pitchforks awaiting an expected stuffing, have some balance and also give credit where its due. You'll get plenty of chances to slag them off this season, but when they've just won away at the title favourites? I haven't been on here long but can only imagine what it's like after a loss

Basically, we defended passively and deeply with MK Dons having 21 passes before we pressed. Don't think the data is any surprise based on what we saw. XG would be interesting based on the final score but I can't see it.

Do you actually read the forum? I'd say there's about 70%+ of posters that said we defended poorly at times and need to improve yet for some reason you're following me around and making things up. You're just another in a handful of posters that disregards anything with a hint of realism as "negative" yet lap up completely unrealistic assessments and parade them as fact.

There's no "pitchforks", there's no "slagging off" and I believe there's plenty of "balance". If you take off the claret and amber specs and critique the performance honestly then you too should be openly admitting that we need an improvement at the back whether that be slight tweaks to the system, an improvement in performance (i.e. decision making) or perhaps, different personnel.

If you were here last season you'd have read exactly the same kind of debate about Ash Taylor, it soon fizzled out and the ones also overly praising him then pretended they'd been in agreement all along. It's a funny old forum most of the time so stick around but go with your own opinions, good or bad, right or wrong, it's only an opinion at the end of the day.

 

What was the outcome again? Their forum is on denial too! They think playing pretty football and not putting the ball in the net whilst the back three Pratt about passing between themselves and midfield will win games at home…..Really?

This thread has been educational. I've learned that if you gift the opposition 3 open goal tap ins and 3 one on ones as long as they miraculously miss them all it means you've defended really well.

 

Let's be clear. It wasn't necessarily pretty football from them, it was actually very effective football. They created 5 or 6 excellent chances which is something we fundamentally struggle with. The problem for them on Saturday was that they couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Folk need to stop patronising them as playing "pretty" football. If they're creating the same quality of chances every week then it's very effective and good coaching from their management team. They need to buy a goal scorer.

The way I see it, people have slagged off our new defenders, most people have said MK would steam roll us. We go there and win, conceding only one with their goal being the fault of POTY Brad Halliday and still the first thing people say is that our defence was rubbish.
MK will finish be well up there, we won't come up against many better attacking sides. Lets see how the back line looks against Salford.
