Disagree. I love the way that he's now viewed as though he was a L2 equivalent of a peak Rio Ferdinand, when the reality was he had just as many bad games at the start of last season as anyone else did. He even got dropped or couldn't get in the team, towards the end of the play-off season, as Stubbs and Critchlow were better.

I also disagree, because we need ball playing defenders. And the fact we now have more of them in the back three, meant we passed the ball out of defence better than at any time last season.

He's a solid CB and been very consistent. But I'm unconvinced that we'd have been better with him in the team.

We were told what a good manager Mike Williamson was during his time at MK last season taking them to a play off place, but I'd suggest a manager who see's his team getting a 4 - 0 beating and then after the game says he was happy with the way they continued to play is not doing his job, surely it cant be a matter of you play this way irrelevant of the score.
Crawley put 3 passed them at Crawley then 5 passed them at their place in the play offs.
Sutton scored 4 past them at MK stadium
Mansfield put 4 passed them at MK stadium
Stockport put 5 passed them at Edgely park
City stuck 4 passed them at Valley Parade, imagine the back lash Alexander would get making the comment Williams did after getting walloped 4 - 0 , some would be hounding him out for not having a plan "B" and rightly so.

Cook should have done better with his chance. They nearly scored another own goal and we have several very good attacking opportunities wasted by us.

Hence, we should have had a couple more. Even the Sky pundits were saying that.

My thoughts entirely. On another day, we'll play better and lose!

Yes. His philosophy reminds me worryingly as stubborn as Stuart was, in his first spell. Yes Mac got it about right in his second one - but that was in L1, where you can play a bit more footie.

I do think that they've splashed out on so many players, that they will surely win half their games.

Great win and a very steady away performance credits where credit is due. Still think We are toothless up top and to fix that costs money, money we could spend (as the BBc has exposed) but Rupp wont simple as that as it would constitute as a donation and he cant add that to his over inflated asking price .

Win today win next week, win all season id still be first person protesting against Rupp and Sparks. The damage they’ve done ain’t going to be fixed anytime soon in my opinion.

well done GA and the players today.

70 : If Jaime Walker comes on in the 69th minute, how long does he take to get a yellow card? (5 marks)
75 : Kav is shit up front. We need someone else to lead the line, but hey, at least we have Young on the bench

Delighted with the result but realistically we were 2nd best for 80 mins.
You always get strange results early doors so just happy with 3 points and we move on. We've got back to back home games coming up-where based on the last few years we would typically slip up, but the opportunity is there for us to be looking at a fantastic start to the season, by this time next week.
Thought GA spoke well in his interview. Mentioned we need a couple more in and said we were very wasteful when going forward.

my actual summary of the game :
Wright is a good attacking full back, but a poor defensive one
Smallwood, good in the challenge, and winning the ball back, but he needs someone with legs next to him an discipline to help protect the defence
Pattison is what we've been missing for years
Bryne looked decent. a steady performance
Alexander needs to make substitutions sooner
    I dont rate Baldwin
What's the point of having Young on the bench if he isn't going to be used
We needed some midfield reinforcement on the bench to protect that lead, our options left things limited

That's the problem though, he doesn't even need to be peak Sam Stubbs to be better than those 3. The best of them is Kelly and he's a back up at best for a good team.

And the fact you described the back three as "ball players" has me wondering if you even actually watched the game. The amount of passes given away by the back 3 (and you can add Halliday in that) was up there with anything I've witnessed in the 6 years we've been down here and it constantly invited the pressure back onto us.

The only goal bound effort second half that I can remember was Wrights curler that looked to be going in with the keeper struggling until the defender headed it away nearly scoring a OG.
We knew it wasn't going to be easy but stuck at it riding our luck at times as well as some diabolical finishing from MK, I can't give MK credit today for having just short of 68% of possession 13 shots 5 on target and not getting anything from the game, sorry mate we'll have to disagree on this one, but your right during the coming season there will be a result where we dominate a team and get nothing from it, remembering the Plymouth argyle game a few seasons ago.

Think the point is we had some really promising situations and if the final pass had been made with a little more care we would have had more clear cut chances - ive watched a few back and they honestly weren't difficult passes to make.
GA was very clear on this too

Well expectations don't come higher than beating promotion favourites in their own backyard. Well, we have just gone and dine that.

I saw that result and was just musing exactly how many goals he has let in since joining Carlisle. What are they saying?

Sky showed the goals from that game our game and it looks like Carlisle's defensive issues from last season are still there. First goal, Lewis comes out for a cross and drops it then 2nd goal one of their defenders plays a brilliant through ball to the Gillingham attacker. That's 44 goals conceded in 20 games for Lewis since joining them. Strikers can sometimes have 1 amazing season then never get close to it, I wonder if 22/23 season was the goalkeeping equivalent for Lewis.
