It's been completed a lot longer than this year.
Nearly 2 years now.
It was there the first pre season Hughes had with us because the team trained a lot on the pitch over the other side of the train tracks so we walked past it on the way round.
The one next to the terrapins took a lot longer

 

Took years to complete it all from start to finish. Bridge was shut for absolutely ages. Wasn't fully complete till this year.

Not felt as flat on the eve of a new season for a long time.

Hopefully the team prove me wrong and put in a good performance and bring at least a point back tomorrow to pick up my interest ahead of the first home game next week.

 

It's really odd isn't it, I can't remember a pre season like it. Normally by now I'd be chomping at the bit but I'm just not feeling that buzz.

I think we do these tomorrow... we played an absolute bllinder against them at ours, pressing them hard when they were playing out of the back and but getting men behind the ball in numbers if they broke the press or it wasn't on and letting them play in front of us, picking them off when they made a mistake.

Williamson won't have them playing any other way but they have had a high turnover of players so may take some of them a while to get up to speed with the style, whereas we have mainly the same team and have been working on the pressing style more and more since last time we played them. They will do well this season so I reckon tomorrow whilst they're still gelling is the best time to play them at their place.

Personally, I'd start Walker and Pattison as our two best pressers in the 8s but I suspect he'll start Sarcevic over one of them (don't know what his pressing game is like)

 

I remember the Boxing Day floods on the Aire when it got as high as 4ft 8" inside the Brown Cow (there is a marker on the wall) and a full size shipping container was dragged down the river and smashed into the Bridge over the road from Rawdon Meadows. That wall was 100% needed.

 

The environment agency have been beefing up the flood defences all along the lower portion of the River Aire from around the school down into Leeds.

I think we'll learn a lot early on.

GA seems happy with where we are, our squad is basically done, and we don't need time to adapt or gel.

If we get off to a bad start, it will be hard to see what we can change to improve. If we get off to a good start, it might bode well.

 

A nice boost for the club - on the eve of playing us.

Why can't this be us? Why do we get lumbered with a tight-fisted German?

 

Maybe not a boost.
Maybe a distraction for some players who think 'bloody heck, I'm playing for my future if they've got different ideas'

 

As long as we don't look soft and roll over I'm happy.
A team that battles, looks organised and understands what the manager is wanting will put us in good stead for the season.
Win, lose or draw if I see any of those traits I will be optimistic for the season ahead.

 

Bit unlucky for the new owner to watch his plastic side get thumped 0-4 tomorrow by Alexander and his boys

 

Strange feeling before the first game.
Couple of reasons to be hopeful as there always is but a real feeling that things could quickly get very sour again.
One way or another i think it'll be a season we look back on as a significant one. Either because we finally got out of the league or because we finally reached complete breaking point with Rupp, Sparks and co.

 

The missus AND the child overruled me on this. I said we'd score first, but nope!
