I agree with you on the LWB & cover for Smallwood. However, there is zero chance of us signing another keeper with 3 already on the books and 2 will very rarely play. Alexander rates Wright, even though he’s admitted he’s not great at defending and still learning. That said, I don’t see another arriving.

GA advised again that he wants 2-3 more but that depends on outgoings first. Seems Rupp hasn’t come good on his investment promise, allowing GA to make those final signings. I see one more addition (the player we’ve already agreed to loan) unless a couple leave.

I agree that another striker is a must, but it sounds like that isn’t going to happen, unless it’s a replacement for Young

 

Aye, but this (isn’t called FFP by the way) is based on 50% max of our total income from tickets, tv, commercial etc. If Rupp was putting in more money as promised, so long as he does it via “shares”’and not a “loan” we can spend every penny.

What I have noticed is that there are no gimmick signings to appease the fans. Signings for the sake of it to take the pressure off those at the top. When he started, he said it could take 3 or 4 windows to get it right. Was that because he knew those on good deals wouldn't go anywhere, so we have to wait it out for another 12 months?

 

Can't wait for this season to start! Really looking forward to it, my 2 boys have their kits layed out on their bedroom floor ready for tomorrow.
I think their excitement has rubbed off on me.

All I’m hoping is that we don’t have to use the dreaded “c” word so often this season.

Too many times last season the word “chore” was used to describe going to games.
Admittedly most were under Hughes (Grimsby and Harrogate at home being typical examples)
2 games where we equalised in the last minute and I’ve never felt as flat leaving those games.
180 minutes of absolutely nothing.
Going to see your team should never be a chore.

 

The confidence in Hughes went very quickly, probably started by the no show in the playoffs. Those two games signed his own downfall. I remember us scoring in those games and not even celebrating.

 

Given Youngs explosive spell at Swindon last term and his age, £500k was a price I felt we should aim for - im not into giving players away for a paltry £200k like you. Thats your defeatist mentality!!!

Are you also questioning Sparks valuation in January? Because it was rumoured to be around £500-£750k.

PS - Youngs spell at FGR was absolutely fine for an 18-20 year old. Goals per mins ratio wasnt bad and he was part of their promotion squad. Poor spell at Barrow, brillaint spell at Swindon and hideously mismanaged at Bradford.

 

Hideously mismanaged yes, but when he has been given a chance to play, his goals per mins ratio for us has been excellent.

 

Depending on the type of forward it could be enough. You certainly think it was for James Hanson even if he only reached that figure once in his career here.
