I am sure if he had impressed Alexander enough there would have been no talk of him leaving. Kavanagh will have the shirt backed up by Smitb

 

If Young does go to Stevenage or Crawley then he could be in for a tough season where he won't get many chances. If he has a poor season then the first half of last season will soon be forgotten, there are plenty of players at this level who've had a good spell and never replicated it. Anyone buying him is gambling they are getting the 16 goals in 26 games Swindon had and not the 16 goals in 96 games for the rest of his career including 0 in 17 for Barrow.

I think people are forgetting or underestimating how well Kavanagh did last season when he joined and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with around 15 goals this season.

 

Interesting that GA has said today that we are 2 or 3 players short of where he wants us to be by the end of the month.

He acknowledged that players need to be moved on first.

 

I think GA is resigned to the fact the Young will be gone within a week or so, and this will allow him to add the 3 he wants! If that's what's needed, and Young has had his head turned, so be it.

 

He's been saying that we are 2 or 3 short for a while now, didn't he start saying it after we'd brought in Baldwin?

Suddenly if there's 10 new faces through the door, those early signals of us being nearly there and just a few players needed to challenge.... ends up being a kind of overhaul?

 

In my opinion the goalkeeping department needs an addition.
No disrespect to Colin Doyle but he clearly needs to concentrate on coaching this term.
We need someone to push Walker, or are we going to go down the emergency keeper route as and when required.

Right on the limit with FFP??? WOW.

Seems unlikely and just media bluff to me but just imagine it's true. If we are paying the level of wages to get close to the FFP line then these lads need to perform this season. No excuses!

This Jake young think is really not what’s needed on the eve of a new season why do we always get to this stage so late on in the windows. If young was sold early on we probably wouldn’t have been that worried but we just don’t have a great track record on replacing the strikers we have sold. Saying that I think kavs the better option of the 2 and he’s only getting better

 

We needed to address it last summer and didn't and it looks like we are going to ride our luck yet again this year too. Unless a keeper is one of the '2 or 3' GA thinks we still need to be the finished article.

That says nothing about one’s unhappiness about a potential transfer of said player, unless it’s a cryptic riddle.

Btw I agree but it’s going on too long and unsettling for the squad/ management/ fan base.

 

He can’t be sold “early on” if nobody makes an offer!

 

Imagine if teams don't meet our valuation and Young is still at the club when we've made it common knowledge we want him out, great for the dressing room.

 

City Vent are saying that Young is 100% leaving in the next week with Wilson, Oliver and McDonald being offered around to takers.

I'm glad it's not a 1 only out situation with the strikers. If Young is going to raise cash, so be it. But there's no way we should keep Oliver too, he's washed and won't offer much to this team.

 

.and what this about being near the FPP limit in todays interview with GA posted by Jamie Raynor "right on the limit with FPP at present.
All the players released - are they say the few we have recruited are on as much as the combined total of those? Also if this was known why did Rupp say he was going to invest in the squad.

 

I find this FFP thing rather convenient to be honest.

We aren't were we need to be, ie 2 players short etc, so we trot out the we are right on the limit of FFP line.

Two months ago our owner was screaming and promising new investment in the first team, he did so because he knew he wouldnt be able to put a penny in.

I think @Dennis posted some figures up last year and suggested using the figures Sparks quoted in his interview that we'd likely be some way off the limit for FFP.

Given the incomings and outgoings I'd be absolutely amazed if we were in the brink of it this year and I can only imagine this is more smoke and mirrors from a disinterested owner who is breaking yet another promise.
