It would make good sense for the lad to rekindle that very good partnership they had previously, good luck to the kid if he goes, it doesn’t look like Alexander fancies him for all the slight injury talk.

 

It might be that his scoring spree for Swindon was an aberration and I do think Calum Kavanagh will do well for us. However, I think we would be ecstatic at signing someone who scored 16 goals at L2 level last season.

It's a big call to let him go, if that is the case.

My thoughts entirely

 

Would be a mistake to let Young go this late in the window. Although I don’t think our attacking options are bad for this level, an injury to Cook would leave us very light

 

I may be wrong but the situation since his return just doesn't sit right with me, I like the Kavanagh Cook pairing but I'd have liked to see what Young might have been capable of given his chance.

 

Unless we sign someone else to replace him.

 

It's one of the downsides of not having an u21 squad that we have very limited amount of space for signing scholars on pro deals and we can't wait for them to develop. A lot of the time these clubs will sign players just to fill in gaps in the squad with no realistic expectation they'll make it at 1st team level.

 

IMO - If there's six figure money on the table let him go - not his fault as partly due to injuries and style of play but he hasn't really done anything significant in a city shirt. Perhaps the money can be used to pay off macdonald and free up a couple of places in the squad. His value is going to start to drop further if he doesn't do the business for us this season and with everything thats gone on a parting of the ways seems inevitable.
