RE Oliver taking a paycut, he won’t have to will he. If he’s got another year here on, say, £5k a week (figure made up) and a new club is only willing to pay him £3k a week, City will have to come to an agreement over the 2k owed for remainder of deal? The player won’t miss out. City will pay him off and Oliver might write off a little bit, but its not like he’s a free agent and then he’d have to look at a full drop in his wage.

 

I posted similar when fans were suggesting he wouldn't get the sort of deal he has at Valley Parade, he doesn't need to we would make up the difference for the length of his present contract at Valley Parade.

 

Which is much better than a three year gamble on a striker who had only ever scored more than ten goals in a season once in a 12 year career

You are unbelievable. You wrote 31 LEAGUE goals, not 31 goals overall (which is also incorrect BTW).

 

I do apologise for that so I will amend 27 in 82 in the league above 4 in 8 for cup games better than most strikers we have had in recent years

 

Fair play for the apology but your numbers are still wrong. It was 2 goals in 8 Cup games over the 2 seasons.

 

Pedantic but it’s 4 in 8 in all cup competitions the only point I was making with Oliver is he did well for two years before he came here and if we signed a striker this window with those stats nobody would be complaining. If we can get rid all well and good because he hasn’t done it for us

 

His record since joining us doesn't show otherwise, it shows his previous seasons of single goal returns were correct.

 

The fact you are defending a 3 year deal for Oliver makes you look ridicilous.

That was off the back of a season where he scored 11 goals in 43 games. Is that impressive to you? You really have low standards. The fact he has been absolutely shite since he came makes the signing even worse.

Oliver by any definition has been a disaster for us. Strikers who do not contribute are a drain on the team and club. No amount of bulling him up will alter that fact. I couldn’t care less about his previous clubs or his contributions to their goals tally He needs to go, as soon as possible.

 

And yet you were suggesting a player who has done Zilch for at least three clubs and had one two months spell was worth up to 500k
