2024 Released Players & City transfer rumours

Its a 46 game season and we play 3 CB's on a matchday. Why would we go into a new season with only 4 recognised CBs? That would be sheer lunacy.

 

I think we also need another one. Hopefully one of genuine quality but I'm not holding my breath.

 

You're right of course. I just think players settle and are more comfortable playing one or the other. I think Kelly has found his niche at LCB

 

Even Smallwood wasn't too shabby last night, and Kelly keeps on improving ..

Suspect that's your lot now: Kelly, Stubbs, Byrne, Baldwin, Shepherd, Johnson (I know, I know), Goodman and Richards with the option of going 4 at the back instead of 5 if necessary

Decent strength for league 2 the squad looks a lot stronger than last season

I don't think there's anyone in that list who would get into a league two promotion winning team for the last few years.

Perhaps as a unit they may all gel and be very solid but on paper, it still looks incredibly weak to me.

 

The squad overall certainly does, the defence in isolation I'm not sure. Need Shepherd to be at the same quality of Oyegoke/Tomkinson and Bryne or Baldwin to step up and fill Platts shoes

 

Byrne did

 

For 937 minutes. The equivalent of 10 full games. He was more or less a spectator as his team mates won the league.

 

He was good and I was impressed with our defending until we started making subs.

 

He wasn't a first team regular.

Unless you're suggesting he makes our sub bench stronger?

 

I thought he gave a really committed performance, carrying on from his committed performances from end of last season
