2024 Released Players & City transfer rumours

Sharpe said that we’re only bringing one more signing in before players will have to leave.

Will that one signing be:
- the midfielder mentioned as the original loan target who the parent club decided to keep when he scored a couple of goals in friendlies
- the second loanee mentioned by Parker and Sharpe who we were supposedly battling against three other clubs to sign and Sharpe indicated was a LCB
- Sam Graham
- Jordan Amissah

It’s all a bit confusing and makes you think that we don’t know what position we want.

Im really surprised we are in for another MF. Thats Smallwood, Gilli and new player fighting for 1 shirt, although Smallwood be nailed on and Pattison, Sarcevic, Walker, Pointon, Oduor fighting for 2 shirts.

It looks bloated to me.

 

Sharpe said that we were looking at cover for Smallwood but I assumed that it would only happen if / when McDonald leaves. Maybe they don’t see Gilly playing that DM role.

 

We can’t start the season off with Smallwood as the main DM. Whatever it takes we must have an option in this key position. It’s been our undoing for the last 6 seasons.

 

It’s also baffling that Colin Doyle’s contract still hasn’t been announced.

 

I think he played his best football in a City shirt when we went to a midfield three last season and I expect us to keep playing that formation this year.

 

I'm kind of am but also aren't. Smallwood regressed massively last season and is kind of untested. When he missed out for Gilly or McDonald, it was a completely different balance in there and the roles didn't mesh. He might want a proper DM with similar traits to Smallwood who can actually cover rather than getting someone like Gilly to try and sit, when Gillys best trait is his legs and ability to get across midfield. I dont think GA wants that in his sitter.

 

That Spainish trip was ludicrous from a footballing point of view.

 

No it’s not, we want several , but the question is what is the no 1 priority , because the rest are reliant on existing players moving on.

Think a lot of this talk of one player only coming in before moving out etc is a bit of smoke and mirrors really by the club , we clearly need a few more in and rather that tell the press we need this and that it stops agents jumping on the bandwagon

 

He's only been here two season. I know he's not perfect, but don't hang 2019 to 2022 on him

Well you can rule Odour out immediately. He's nowhere near the level so realistically it should be 2 from 4.

 

Strikes me they wanted to do something like what we've done this season but they didn't have the experience or know-how to do it so this time GA has said "this is what we're doing" and the powers that be have followed his plan. Does seem like they've done a nice mix of activities though so some thought has definitely gone into it.

 

Why does looking at different positions mean we don't know who we want? There'll just be a lot of moving parts, CH and GK are in Austria with us. Midfield and striker we need the two outcasts to leave first

 

Dont know why Vadaine is in Austria. Weve told him to look for a new club and that should be his priority. Him and McDonald should have been playing at BPA last night.

 

Mrs Tallinn is a big advocate of taking a daily dip in “snow melt”. Apparently it’s good for her mental wellbeing, although I just call her a mental well being
