This time last year we were saying the same about Young. How times change

 

What was the mood like on here in regards Young? I'm guessing most people backed Hughes after a semi-successful season? I was ready to back whatever the manager wanted but did think putting Young in those u21 friendlies was disrespectful

 

I agree, plus sending him out on loan to Barrow just days after we lost Wright to Plymouth was a ridiculous decision.

When are they playing the matches in Austria? Have we any information (other than photographs) of who went and who stayed in the UK? Also information about what GA and the board said about having some new lads coming away on tour - or rather not as the case may be. Seems to me that pre season has stalled a bit, after the early flurry of signings. Amazed that we haven't shifted the players that aren't needed. Oliver being on that tour, kind of suggests that he's going to part of the plans. All a bit de ja vu, despite having a war cry and new personnel.

 

Most people were saying similar things about Young as what’s happening now with Mac. And I think it’s unfai on both because it’s based on heresay

 

Unless he is injured it makes no sense why he played no part in the 2 friendlies before going away like Oliver did

 

The match against SV Ried II is a 4pm (UK time) kick off tomorrow. Simon Parker has confirmed the full squad apart from McDonald and Johnson have travelled. There was a picture posted by the club on social media yesterday which had the full squad apart from Oliver for some reason plus Sam Graham.
I'm not surprised Oliver has been given a chance as we currently don't have a back up to Cook for an aerial presence. I think a lot more movement in the market will start in the next couple of weeks as players realise they are not going to play and the Euro players return to the Premier League clubs which will allow some players to go out on loan and the knock on impact from that.

 

The team we are playing "SV Ried II" are a reserve side of a team who play in the second tier of the Austrian league (SV Ried).

What's the point? Surely play against the first team instead, I can't imagine the second tier of Austrian football is any stronger than League Two.

At least hammering these 11-0 might bring a bit of goalscoring confidence if nothing else

Looking at the UEFA ranking, L2 is 73rd and the Austrian 2nd tier is 80th ranked. So probably very similar in quality. Although SV Ried II is their U21s looking at the books. You never know, there might be the odd first teamer thrown in there but it should be a team of young uns we run against tomorrow.

Their first team start their season at the weekend in the Austrian FA Cup, so that's probably why we are playing their kids.

I don't think it's purely hearsay. WOAP have reported his behaviour and they never put stuff out unless it's pretty much on the money.

Made even more so when you think back to the Carlisle PO games. Had we been able to bring a forward on as sub rather than Platt, a good chance of another trip to Wembley.

 

The City kids beat Avenue 3-0, the Tom Banks trophy back in our hands.
