A quick search at experienced central defenders that are out of contract, Ryan Bennett and Michael Hector are just two examples. Played most of their careers at a higher level, now in their 30s but crucially seem to be injury prone.

Why can’t he go with injury or without. If he needs specialist training, the specialist gives instructions as to what he can do, but at least he will be part of the group. Why are we letting footballers dictate training regime?

I understand managers doing coaching badges or contract managers having qualifications in finance but ultimately the choice of player is determined by a football managers opinion and is nothing to do with a piece.of paper in the guise of a certificate.

Jesus wept. Not exactly rocket science to spot talent. The best players have something you can't teach and thats instinct. Same goes for coaches, you can read as many coaching manuals as humanly possible but the best just have the knack.

I have no idea what they entail at all - never done them. Done my UEFA C (Old Level 2) and Youth Award coaching.

 

The entire EFL is at fault. Clubs generally follow each other like sheep just to be “competitive”. Agents seek the best deals for their clients and who can blame them? If EVERYONE offered 2 year deals for anyone aged say 25 or over then the race to attract the top signings wouldn’t be reliant on longevity of the “ deal.”

If the marquee signing we wanted touted himself on £5k a week, then he’s going to go without question, to the club who offers the longest contract. If ALL clubs said it’s two years MAX, then silly long deals wouldn’t happen.
