I understand that, but why are they paid by player and club. Our agents fees are a decent players salary for the year.

Did Halliday miss pre- season , after he signed.
Yes all players get niggles/ injuries, it is part of the game. We just appear to have more than our fair share.
Am not keen on signing players that are injured, as i say, i hope it's just a niggle, but leaving him behind suggests its more to me.

Niggles tend to last a couple of weeks at most but we are being told Johnson picked this up during the close season so at least 4 weeks ago, possibly longer. GA also said a week ago that Johnson would be going to Austria and yet here we are with him left at home. I hope the precaution pays off and once this 'niggle' clears up he is able to crack on and stay fit for the majority of the season, but it isn't a promising start.

We never learn Eisa, Threlkeld, Angol, Ismail....probably more.

This one is on Sharpe. He knew the kid and convinced him to sign. That injury record was treat with caution (1 yr deal) but its still a wage for 12 months.

It's laughable really, especially when GA said at the end of last season that he wanted to sign players than can play 50 games a season.

Totally laughable for a couple of reasons, the main been his injury record. But also if he was to play as a RCB when he’s hardly played there, 12 games in his career I think someone said? Time to act on your empty words Rupp and invest in two quality CBs, that will be the difference between promotion or not imo.

It’s mental really that we’ve resorted to these signings. When I look at the business other clubs in this league have done I can’t help but wonder why we weren’t in for them.
What bothers me most is the forward planning. There doesn’t seem to be any reasoning behind our signings at all and if we go up then what? A complete rebuild? I wouldn’t want to rely on any of our current team to keep us up in league one. We’d need a whole new team. Then I look at the signings of clubs like Carlisle, Port Vale and Doncaster. They clearly have a plan where we are hoping for the best.
It’s depressing as a City fan to be looking on in envy over what other clubs are doing.
We now have Sharpe, Alexander, Sparks and Gent to preside over transfers and the best we can do is a makeshift left back because he had a few decent games on loan, a defender who Notts County didn’t want and a crock that Mansfield released.
I really do try and remain positive but I just can’t see any proof of change this summer.

Factor in as well the speed that Byrne, Baldwin and Johnson were brought in. A 31 year old bit part player with relatively little league experience, a player that was part of the worst defence in the league last season and a sick note were our number one targets. Just let that sink in.

Byrne had a good season at Hartlepool the year before which attracted the interest of at least two of the clubs who subsequently achieved promotion

My real concern is our centre backs base on facts that Byrne at 31 and Baldwin at 27 have played less than 150 games between them in leagues one and two (Baldwin has played a few games in league one). Baldwin looked very poor last season, albeit in poor defensive set up, Byrne a second choice for Stockport.

Don't forget the injury prone right back with 12 career appearances at centre half m9.

Can't ever see Kelly doing anything like this. He'd have hoofed it in the general direction of Cook from the edge of the penalty area.

The lad kept his head and never panicked. Our defenders need to get better at running into space and drawing out the opposition's midfield and defence.

If we were playing him as a right back it wouldn't be so much of a problem. When fit he's a good player at this level but as a centre back?

when playing a three the position is different the full backs bomb forward and basically is covered by the corresponding centre half. I would agree about this if we were playing conventional centre halves but we not. Sharpe knows him and seen him play plenty of times so he is the qualified one so if he has been brought in to play there he must be confident he can

Sorry but our right and left centre backs never "bombed forward". They don't have the composure or dribbling skills.

He's as qualified as me and you Park, there is no qualfication to signing a footballer. The actual contract side of things he knows far more than I will ever know but I'll put my cards on the table that I'm a better judge of a player.

He meant the wing backs, the wide centre backs then cover the space behind them
