Don’t really see how he’s on trial he’s been injured all pre season and is still a few weeks away from been able to train, tbf I don’t think I’d be against it if we can get him on lower wages/ loan if Oliver goes then we need a back up to cook and he defo knows where back of net is still.

 

James Norwood don’t need him and a complete waste of budget.

Why pay for their travel and accomodation though? Its just business and they are grown men so hopefully understand.

Theyve been told to find other clubs so hopefully they do. The only reason they wont is because the pay will be less so its on them if they dont leave, not GA or the club.

Leave them I say and try and force the issue.

You'll have to take that up with GA but he said he's signed Tyreik for left wing back and Lewis Richards has only ever played there for us. Gilly will end up filling in nearly everywhere over the season

Bugger the waste of budget that's Rupps issue. Oliver will probably go the other way aswell so won't hurt Stefans pocket too much. Norwoods well worth a punt for me, 1 year deal. That's a serious strike force for GA o try get a tune out of

 

Exactly, agree with all of this.
No matter if he's 34 soon, he knows how to get the best out of Cook and vice versa, his numbers are still good with 17 last season at still a decent level. I only think Cook managed to get near that in our squad.
Also look at experienced strikers at this level in the past doing well, Cureton, Volkes etc. There were people wanting Billy Sharp/Charlie Wyke a few weeks back who's numbers had dried up for the last 2/3 years. We have to realise we are a league 2 club and we aren't going to be able to afford a 17 goal a year striker at a younger age, or bring in a younger player from above who's scored a few at PL2 level and hope it works out well, e.g. Samuels/Costelloe.

 

I think the content of the party is pretty much true though. It'll be nowhere near 99% that didn't feel we needed seriously upgrading in areas this year and it won't be far off that number who would probably suggest that, even being optimistic, it's hard to suggest that anyone other than the Sarcevic signing has achieved that.

 

I agree. Norwood would be a decent punt, if his attitude is right.

 

We have enough firepower on our books, just need feeding, that's where we should be concentrating ...

 

I think we need a 5th striker. We have 4 on the books at the moment and when you play 2, you need 5. If Cook gets injured we are left with Young, Kavanagh and Smith. The latter wasnt great last season.

If Norwood is a loan or a 1 year deal, great. Has a decent record at various levels in front of goal. Age isnt a factor here.

PS Oliver is done IMO and absolute shite so not in the convo.

 

We have 1 proven goalscorer. Young has something but still something to prove. The other 2 havent done anything to guarantee goals.

You can never have enough goals in a side when chasing top 3.

Won't confess to know much about Norwood, but age is just a number. If he's better than Oliver, offers more punch than Kav & Smith, would compliment or replace cook (if injured) and a deal can be done taking Oliver the other way, them I'm in.
