There were tweets he was sending around the time about with him hinting at not being happy with what was offered, it's referenced in the article about him being David Luiz-esque shared earlier by someone as well

 

My perspective would be that unless he becomes really mistake-prone, I'm not looking for him to be a superb defender, I want him to be running up and down the line, taking on defenders and providing opportunities and assists. If it's a trade-off, I'd much rather him be creating chances than trying to improve his defending to become an average kind of defender. He should be one of our biggest threats going forward this season.

They clearly didn't want him or they'd have offered him an acceptable contract. Being part of the defence that conceded the most in the entire league isn't exactly going to see him going around demanding a huge increase on his current terms!

 

That is incorrect. He wasn't offered a new deal and no offer of any deal was ever reported. He was released.

Good idea to completely erase September and at least save us one month of pain.

 

The difference is that those 3 had decent seasons, clearly shown in two of the cases as they went to a higher division.

Did Baldwin have a good season to such an extent that he'll have been in demand? Clearly not.

 

Did I say any different? I never mentioned Platt as my post is about Baldwin.

 

I think it could easily be argued he decided to move to a bigger club at the end of his contract instead of taking what was on offer.

Let's hope your correct because when balls start getting thrown into the box I'm not sure what he offers, we saw this with a player who turned out to be POTS in Halliday his defending crosses in the far post was worrying early in the season.

 

Bigger club, higher crowds, higher league position, never been out of the Football League... I'm not arguing it I'm just saying it could be argued he's moved on to better things. My point is it's patently ridiculous to say Baldwin was clearly not rated and so that's why he wasn't offered enough but that Platt had had a good season and that's why he wasn't offered enough, particularly when one has moved up in the league and the other hasn't
