I still cant believe that 3 different managers had no other plan than to use Eoin Doyle as a target man. That season was an absolute joke! Scores 39 in 58 in L1 before signing for us, then was used to win headers and managed 7 goals in open play all season.

    It's a Bantams thing.

    A great post is this.

I'm relying on my patience ATM, expecting more signings whether on loan or permanent. I guess, I'll equate it to when you are selling a house....just one issue in the chain and the whole process can collapse or be delayed.

That said, the two trialists on Saturday certainly did not enthuse me nor give me confidence.

I registered on here a few years ago before our televised L2 fixture that ended 1-1 to correct a misunderstanding someone had about Theo Robinson's time at Vale. This summer I'm reading the forums of other L2 clubs as the reaction to our exciting transfer business is frankly just pleasant to read.

RE: Williams - A claim that originally appeared in the Sun. It was nonsense. Vale denied it. What point are you trying to prove with it?

RE: Why are Vale now in L2

    1) The owners business wasn't sold until after the Jan window
    2) She had, mistakenly, left total control of "anything that touched a ball" to Flitcroft
    3) She is very loyal and stuck with the inexperienced Andy Crosby for far too long
    4) See below for Flitcroft

Clearly because the owners are “investing” …..It’s not rocket science.

Oh my! I completely forgot we signed Theo Robinson! They told us to stay awake on deadline day for that reveal, was a sign of things to come for that season. Jesus wept we've never given ourselves a chance at promotion have we :joy:

I have a few friends who are Vale fans and in our group chat they can’t believe some of the business they are making. Seems the owners have made a series of *@?$ ups and are now promising to make up for that? It all looks to have gone down hill after sacking Darrell Clarke.
Byers looks a hell of a signing for our level but I thought that about Smallwood. I like the look of the lad from Aldershot and the Paton signing yesterday. You are my favourites to win it this season but as we are all aware, this league is a pig to get out of.

Aha! So you agree they are investing in the squad then. Shame you couldn't have just said that instead of getting into a pointless debate with a Vale fan.

Won't lie mate, we laughed o_O

Eternally grateful to the Bantams for releasing us out of his contract that window.

We've also just, somehow, managed to sell Ryan Loft to L1 Cambridge. 3 years with an option of a 4th. 1 goal for us last season. I'm honestly more amazed about that than signing George Byers. As glad as we were to move Theo on, getting actual money for RL blows that move out of the water.

I think that's basically it mate, they're apologising for a very unnecessary relegation and a number of poor windows where we failed to sign a striker, any striker, yet Flitcroft was running about with grand plans of big spending off the pitch, he wanted a glass fronted office overlooking the training pitches for new signings to look over them from - while we had nothing up front and last season had 3 strikers, 2 awful and 1 constantly injured, who only scored 6 between them, you couldn't write it. It took a meeting with some protest group representatives for Carol's eyes to be opened I think.

I think we should have stuck with Clarke personally.

I'm most excited about the lad from Aldershot, Tolaj. Only 22, Swiss youth international, 23 goals and 10 assists in all comps last season I think it was, including 2 against Swindon when Aldershot battered them in the FA cup. I might have a flutter on him when the top scorer market opens.

Thanks for the heads up @Offcomedun@Offcomedun on the WOTP article. Excellent read and summerises my thoughts and feelings exactly. It is my view that recruitment is not going well. I imagine it is players who are taking a big slice of the cake not wanting to leave for less pay that is causing the log jam. Rupp could pay them off and release the jam, but it doesn’t make financial sense to throw money around like that until we have given it time. However, it is a fine line on when to actually do that; on the other side of the argument if you don’t move quick enough good players may well sign elsewhere. Plus we are not as attractive as we once were, 6 years in this league with no sign of us getting anywhere despite our protestations of we are going for promotion. So Stefan the longer we leave it the more it will cost financially; not to mention the restoration of the trust of the fans.

@Foghornleghorn@Foghornleghorn stated this lack of communication when clearly things are not going to plan needs addressing. None of us want to hear bad news, but better that than left wondering what is going on.

Your first paragraph sounds ominously familiar with us last season, owner only bothering to take notice after a protest group brought pressure on him and the CEOs running of the club. Haven't really seen anything in terms of investment yet though, although there may be something in us buying the ground back but I wouldn't hold my breath until it might happen.

We've signed some absolute guff since relegation but Theo has to be up there in that top tier of trash.

A Sheff weds fan at work was amazed Byers has dropped to L2, he said there's a bunch of Wednesday fans that still think he could do a job at their place but he said Byers just couldn't handle the pace of the Champ to be a proper attacking midfielder at that level. Think he had a fair few injuries over the seasons prior and last season he was actually fit again, but the team had pretty much moved on. For me he is the signing of the summer at this level on paper.

One other point……The “investment” didn’t stop them being relegated either?

Yes of course…. Spending money to improve is “investing” ….Something I learned in industry , in fact any industry. Sometimes it doesn’t always pay off , either by adding to accumulated to debt, or mismanagement or indeed wrong decisions, aka Theo Robinson.

Our so called investment certainly seems to be stopping us getting promoted though.......

Do we need “ communications” to be told it’s not going to plan and why? I don’t , however you are right in the sense it adds to transparency.

What investment are you referring to ? We have yet to see anything tangible other than David Sharp’s recruitment and spending money on improving pitch drainage ?

Bowyer had Doyle and Vaughan at his disposal and still managed to fook it up with both.

    I absolutely despise that man.
