Difference being, Baldwin was part of the worse defence in the league last season whereas we won 53% of games that Platt played in last season and only won one game when he didn't play. Was he perfect? Of course not, but I wish we still had him instead of Baldwin.

Could probably have done with both tbh.

We definitely lacked a decent passer in the back line, but now we might like a dominant aerial defender.

Bit harsh when you haven't seen most of them. Baldwin is quick according to Notts fans

Wonder if this supposedly investment from supposedly this season is all going towards him getting the ground so we don't have a big playing budget but it will look like he has put money in, if he takes ownership of the ground? Cos at the minute I can't see a big investment in the team, looks like we're waiting for departures now before we sign anyone else

If it was used to pay up the contracts of some fringe players then it wouldn't be a bad thing in my view (after we've made a decent effort to exit them by transfer or mutual cancellation first).

Yeah but you rated Luke Hendrie so I'm not taking your opinion ;)

He’s the only one who I’ve not seen.
Personally don’t see Johnson as a CB but more of a RB.

I predict that so will everyone else on the forum (except park) once we've seen him play.

Thinking DS so far has been the biggest anti climax. I don’t see his impact massively on this window which I assumed we would.

Can anyone tell me there is one player Gent wouldn’t have been able to bring in without DS?

He’s not had the impact so far that I wish and hoped for.

Stubbs problem is his pace - particularly the lack of it.

Technically he's decent and can be the organiser in a three, just don't link him with a defender like Taylor as the pack of pace is easily exposed

George Byers has turned down L1 offers to re-join Darren Moore at Port Vale. Very good CM for this level but injuries seem to be his problem.

Swear you see that far too often now at this level. There's some top names from recent EFL history of the last 5 or more years who have joined L2 clubs for the coming season, and all have a fitness/injured red flag.

Sarcevic (played for GA at Fleetwood)
    Wright (3rd spell)

That leaves Johnson (ex Mansfield), Byrne (wanted him at Mansfield) and Baldwin he has been responsible for.

Correct. We could have signed those 3 without him, very easily.

How fast was Aiden Flint last season? Or Ben Tozer?

I'd much rather have a positionally aware defender and someone who can actually play than someone who has lightening pace but constantly needs to use it as he's day dreaming or miles out of position.

I get it's a balance but defenders with everything don't exist in league two so I'd much rather have a dependable performer who can do the basics well as we can always add pace either side of him.

Maybe he’s finding it tough with the budget restraints. Mansfield and Wigan both known for big budgets (in league 1 and 2).

Very odd fit and I won’t be suprised to see him off before the next window.

In Another mystery departure similar to the Redfern and Litherland exit today from the youth team.

Must admit I found their departures strange to say the least .
I was under the impression everything was going well with our academy of late.

I have no idea , but this mullarky is easier than catching small roach. Dangle a maggot and one is bound to bite. I have to confess it took far longer than expected;)

Flint is quite quick Dave, so is Tozer when there’s a throw in waiting. Didnt Cookie tear him one , inside out at their place from memory ?
