Match Thread Chorley vs City (Pre-season game 1)

You only have to look at Harrogate. Boro and Leeds at home, all about the money. To a lesser degree withe us and Sunderland, 3800 tickets sold out I hear from a Sunderland fan, good money.

 

Here are the “highlights”

 

Just because the result isn’t important and doesn’t win you any prizes doesnt have to mean it’s not competitive or even friendly.
Of course the pace isn’t going to be 100% but surely there still needs to be a mentality to try win the game?

 

I seriously cannot believe the meltdown on the back of it .......... even the WOAP are on the case honestly we aint knowhere near match fitness with still players to come in and on the back of a runabout we are already in bother before a balls been kicked

Good luck GA surviving into September because at this rate your out of the door before the seasons even started

 

I'd email the club and ask for your money back m8, they're clearly taking the piss out of you.

 

Yeah should have picked his strongest team and gone hell for leather surly had we done that and picked up injuries the folk moaning would have been ok for that to happen wouldnt they ????

I learnt from a young age that these games done mean nothing we toured Sweden in the lates 80s battering teams by huge scores the following season we couldnt score in a brothel.
We beat Red Star Belgrade in 1990 surly the sign of our instant return to the Championship ( league 2 back then) guess what finished 7th and they won the european cup

I mean we go out and beat Sunderland does that now mean that we can compete in the Championship?????

I can understand it in a few weeks time if things aint planning out but on the back of the first pre season game honestly folk have us down to fail before we have kicked a ball in anger.


Btw i aint a happy clapper far from it but if your getting angry already then for your own blood pressure levels go hand your season tickets back in

I try and ignore it now rather than get uptight about it. I'll wait till thr season starts and see how the performances are going in terms of players fitting their roles. 10 games or so in and we should be able to see a settled side that is showing positive signs of improvement. If not the time comes to show some concern.

 

We didn't feature much in the highlights. Just as an aside, the new shirt with the all amber back looks awful

Crikey, after all these years you have just sussed out what pre season games are.

 

No twisted knickers here. Maybe I’m not used to the ‘big sell’ from the club marketing brigade for what are just fitness exercises.
The whole pre match build up showing the coach arriving and the players checking the pitch etc etc. all a bit cringeworthy

 

Wonder what QPR will do this season ?

 

No one makes you watch it.

 

@Loyalbantam these are just training and fitness matches. Some fans like to go and watch, and managers and players like fans there as it gets them used to crowds. I occasionally go to one but not that bothered tbh. Plus it makes money for the club. It also gets them match fit, so in theory they are ready to start the season. The downside for me is the risk of injury if it becomes competitive.

 

Why? Just because you don't want to pay to go and watch, others clearly do.

 

It's a training session in front of fans. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

And from GA comments today the Guiseley game looks like it will be similar. I see he’s promised a harder week this week than last with double sessions including Friday.

 

Yep, he's made it perfectly clear. If Loyal goes to this one and ends up disappointed, he'll only have himself to blame.
