I am well aware players are able to play various positions but Richards is here as a wingback

 

People have seen the quality in Langstaff since his Gateshead days so always would go for more than Young, the other lad I don’t know enough about to comment

 

Very quiet at the moment. I do wonder if we are done in terms of recruitment now.

 

Could only see us signing a left wing back of Richards was leaving.

Which is a little bit likely, but not when we've signed Ty for that position (presumably).

Not delighted with that, would rather we signed a proper LWB rather than a fan fave.

 

Appears Hughes' hope of getting the Wales job have gone... they have just appointed Craig Bellamy on a 4 year deal.

 

Was Hughes really up for it, not seen that, Bellamy would be more positive and was linked with us I think some time ago........

 

I think Wright could do well, with a bit of coaching and a consistent run in the team. Personally that position no longer bothers me, it is the centre backs. It is arguably the most important position in a 3 at the back and imo we are weaker than last season there, and we weren't exactly strong to begin with. With the defence how it is I don't see the team improving much on last season, I want top 3 but atm getting 7th will be a good job by Alexander. My only hope is we sign a new 'Burke' on loan, highly unlikely however.

We need a figurehead maybe at CB, an inspiring leader. I don't see it happening though, and don't really see that GA is prioritising it either.

He walked in last season and immediately started playing the reserves, ie, Kelly and Tomkinson, so I dunno how pivotal he believes that position is.

Just my take on how GA has handled the situation at CB though.

 

I'll reserve judgement on the new signings until it's confirmed they are gash but looking at our business so far it certainly doesn't look like we're pushing the boat out with Rupps pledge in fact it looks the complete opposite.

 

Personally think that all of our CBs lack pace and that’s what needs rectifying more than anything else.

 

I think Stubbs is more than capable of doing that role. It's either side of him that worries me most.

 

Funnily enough Stubbs worries me. Don't rate him at all.

 

I reckon a couple of loans next month and that will be it.

 

Wait until the season starts. He'll look like Franco Baresi compared to Baldwin and Byrne.

Baldwin apparently is pacy but has the occasional lapse in concentration when the ball is played from the back.

 

So did Platt, but as we knew him already, some would say that’s OK.
