2024 Released Players & City transfer rumours

Another thing maybe to keep an eye on although I think we will probably be a few under is the player allocations. Currently we have 20 players we have to register in our squad list....Halliday, Richards, Stubbs, Byrne, Smallwood, Walker, Cook, Sarcevic, Gilliead, Oduor, Smith, Baldwin, Pattison, Kelly, Oliver, Young, Johnson, McDonald, Wilson & Wright.

Although 2 or 3 of these will likely leave and we will have loads of space for over aged players for January needs that may come up.

 

I hope you are right, whatever happens I can see us paying his salary for another 12months?

Thats the problem, sacrificing potential quality signings due to a POS striker. It shouldnt hamper us at all based on Rupps promises.

 

He promised at the meeting to produce a team that can compete with the top side. He is doing that

I don't think it's necessarily the funds holding us back so much as the number of players... GA very vocal about not wanting too many players about the place

 

If Rupp was true to his word that shouldn't matter. There are ways to get rid of unwanted players to reduce the numbers but it costs.

You're not suggesting that what Rupp said was the latest in a series of bullsh*t statements to fans, and made only to appease people at a tune when protests against the clubs ownership were in full flow, are you.....?

 

Some of those aren’t additions though are they? We’ve lost Platt, Tomkinson and Oyegoke - all young, physically strong and (two of them at least) quick, defenders replaced by three older, slower defenders.

Young and Pattison aren’t additions - yes they were unavailable last season due injury, but we’ll always have injuries whether it’s them two or others.

We’ve added Sarcevic - and that’s it!

He’ll make out Rupp got Young and Pattison fit just to suit his argument.

He was asked for additions.
As you rightly point out Sarcevic is the only addition.
The rest are replacements.

 

You repeatedly have stated the squad is stronger with the return of players who were long-term injuries, Young and Pattison.

But long-term injuries are always going to happen. We might be gaining those 2, but in reality we'll lose others.

So how strong does the squad look with your additions, but without say

Cook and Halliday

Or Walker and Smallwood?

 

You got there before me! Must be double digit times he's said the squad is stronger with injured players returning.

 

Don’t forget Wright

 

Baldwin is supposed to be fast and so is Johnson plus both are in their prime so should have better game awareness. Let’s see how they get on before we judge

 

Baldwin and Johnson maybe fast but the former was part of the worst defence in the league last season and the latter has struggled with fitness over the past two seasons. I hope they both turn out to be excellent signings for us but at the moment, neither is screaming upgrade to me.

 

Let's hope so. But I made no comments judging the new players.
