Callum Cooke had the "most chances created" in the league when he was here. He was dog.
Jake Reeves had brilliant pass completion statistics here. Because they were all 5 yards and backwards.
James Hanson only scored a goal every 3 and half games. Modern day legend.
Football can be so deceptive if you only look at stats. You probably think Cullen had a poor few seasons here because he wasn't bagging a goal / assist every other game.

I saw him Walsall away and he was getting up to speed. The first time he was like a nearly Irish McCall. He was all over the park. Potential me thinks.

I watched every one of those last 6/7 games and I thought on the whole Wright looked disinterested and reluctant to take his man on. Yes he had a couple of moments but I didn't see much to get excited about. I still however hope he improves and does well this season.

 

Right, OK, so just to be clear, you don't have any data points other than "he tried hard". We do need to score goals and prevent them so the data are important. That's been our problem the last few years - not scoring enough goals. And folk like you are happy because players are running round and trying hard but that gets us no points.

 

It might surprise you but people can watch matches and judge players without relying on data. He didn’t play in that position long and he did enough to show he was well worth bringing back. He can also play further forward giving us balance on the left hand side. And apparently he was playing with a broken toe. It’s not going to change your opinion but I agree with the manager we have a good player signed up

I would hope with Wright that now he's settled and gets fit we see his true potential. 1st time here nobody complained and when he went to Plymouth lack of game time probably affected his fitness aswell as confidence hence why he struggled in his second spell. Looking forward to seeing him fit and flying this season

 

Does Halliday getting 4 goals instead of 3 change anything in the debate? That along with multiple of the same comment about Johnson has been your only input on here for weeks.

 

Twice there you've quoted me on something I haven't said.
I'm not sure what's made you so determined to prove that Wright in fact didn't play well for the last 6 games when I was there for all of them and he did.
If our problem of not scoring enough goals is down to the fullbacks, we need to be replacing Halliday who only bagged 4, as the ever helpful monkey pointed out.

Like I said, if you're so keen on stats you need to bin off Halliday for a fullback who gets a goal/assist every other game. While you're out finding one we need left back who doesn't go 6 games without scoring to satisfy Botswana

You seem very touchy when things folk debate something you don't agree with. It's just a forum, people will disagree with you at times.

 

Not touchy I just don't understand how a city fan can think stats are the be all and end all with the amount of players we've had that disprove that.

 

No they won't, I completely disagree.

Regardless of stats or no stats, playing with wing backs they are going to be our main source of width next season and will need to contribute with assists if not goals. Jodi Jones for instance got 18 assists from LWB back last season, granted he would be at a higher level if not for injuries but as a new comer to this position, Wright must look to someone like that to emulate. I don't think Wright did bad on his return don't get me wrong, but if we are to score enough to go up next season he will need to do his fair share of contributing.

Hopefully a settled formation and side from the off will help this year. Alexander was our third manager of the season and even he messed with the formation at first, Wright also played in multiple positions, these things don't help players, stability will give them and him the best chance to improve his stats.
