I always think of him as a steak and kidney pudding type of guy.

 

I actually agree with him here, sure City fans aren't the loudest or even travel the best in terms of numbers to away games. But when you look at our last 60/70 years and even the last 6 years to be going into next season on the back of a season ticket price hike and looking at averaging around 15k is incredible. I look at the likes of Leeds and the Sheffield clubs and their fan bases are so big due to spending so many years in the top 2 flights. If one of those clubs spent 6 years in league 2 their support would start to evaporate. So while we can't claim to be a big boy, there is a reason our support is the envy of most in the lower leagues, because yet again after more failure and misery last season, the fans have turned up and done their part yet again.

Got to be soon hasn't it? Outside of Morecambe who it sounds like will struggle to field a team this pre-season, christ knows if they can even afford to play this season out at the minute. But outside of them, we are the only team that hasn't signed anyone inside of the last 30 days. Deals usually ramp up once training begins, looks like 15 out of 24 have signed someone in the last few days since training began again.

I don’t dispute that our fans are very loyal despite the last 6 years. However, I remember Man City being down here and I think they averaged about 20, 000 and used to pack out the away ends every match.

Not entirely sure what keeps us going tbh. I was as close as any time I can remember to saying good bye to my season ticket this year. Depends what happens but I doubt I will renew if we are not promoted this next season.

 

Would rather be patient and make sure we get the best possible rather than keeping up with the joneses

 

Fully agree...... but there's being patient and there's letting a month of the window pass by.

 

Man City have never played in the 4th tier Mrs O. I think they spent a couple of years at 3rd tier

What really pains me is seeing our boys run out at these grounds, knowing we have graced the best grounds this country has to offer. Then those same teams coming down to VP and treating it like their cup final and getting a result along with some dubious men in the middle that seem to want to get one over on our crowd and make it all about them...

 

But if the players coming in are loans, they generally come in towards the end of the window, once their clubs have decided on their squads.
Hopefully they are better than the majority of loans we have had recently , more Burke and Cullen than Affoka, Burrell, Costelloe

Not really the same. Crawley still had the bones of a squad at the end of 22/23 and some money to spend, they just spent it on complete unknowns and everyone wrote them off early....

Morecambe are completely skint and nobody is walking through the door. They have a goalie, a CB, a winger and a striker on the books and it sounds like they are all open for offers. They managed to offer a young kid from the academy a pro deal, but they need to bring in about 15-20 inside of 3 or 4 weeks for the season and can offer them a can of magic beans.

 

Thank god we are not Morecambe.

 

You aren’t suggesting we go out and buy anybody just to satisfy stats, which by themselves are meaningless? That’s not you.

 

Can you do the same fact finding in the immediate 4-6 weeks after the season ended for balance? Didn’t we sign 4 and added contract extensions to a further 2?
