I was trying to be light hearted, god we need some on here today.
I actually have as little interest in cars as possible, as long as the engine starts, i do not care who makes it.

Did I ever say I was happy with the last 5/6 years? Don't make assumptions about what I think. I will let the season at least get under way before I start getting negative. GA will have had a good pre season with a squad that he has put together, including a couple of key players that he didn't have available last season. I prefer to look forward. As for my head, at least it isn't up my deriere looking behind me at the last 5/6 years.

Depends on the quality of the loans not whether they are cheap or not.

I too was maybe over zealous with using "the fans" as that reads as I meant the majority. I meant far from that, I meant it like in the style of chinese whispers, word spreads and sows seeds of doubt and distain and then before you know it what was once a drop in the ocean leads to a tidal wave of anguish!

I agree our fans are the best, it's just the odd one or two idiots that spread their negativity and it catches like a disease. I've seen the ups and downs, I've been a season ticket holder and I have travelled to the arse end of nowhere when life lets me and I could never see myself loving and supporting a club the way I do ours.

We have gone backwards under the Germans stewardship, but for him it was a business investment. I'm hoping, praying that maybe now he may be coming around to the idea that this club (like in our eyes) is the best football club in the world... however I won't hold my breath!

I am not bothered about “shows intent” I much prefer the quiet approach or under the radar if you like. The players we are buying are to slot into a team we already have. We want them all working together. They all look fit and ready to go. Young and Pattison have returned to fitness it is like new players as they were not available last season. The fans ie “us” need to be patient it doesn’t matter if we haven’t paid top whack for a player as long as he fits into our team.

Euros are on watch what happens when it finishes it is like a plug being pulled all types of deals are being done but nothing will happen until the PL start to seriously do their shopping.

Back for pre season and GA basically said he wanted new players integrated from the off. The few we have signed are totally uninspiring and we need more, especially in defence. I really hope we have something up our sleeves but alas I fear not

@LincsBantam89@LincsBantam89 l wouldn't say City fans are actually the best (how can you objectively measure that) but like most supporters of any team, we want our team to perform to the best of their ability.

However at this level there are undoubtedly more of us than any other club.

To achieve success we want a strong, skilful, squad, which is resilient both physically and psychologically. The individual and collective attributes to be so strong that they achieve promotion.

I suspect he's just taking his normal kebab order without the garlic Naan casing. Plenty of protein, no carbs.

Yes , he was the nail in the proverbial coffin, but only after decades of two administrations and living hand to mouth led by people who thought they had sufficient funds to support a football club, when in reality they didn’t and relied on borrowing to keep the club afloat sometimes on a day to day basis.

In fairness , many on here never experienced those years to any extent, it was truly bad beyond belief.

“Transfers” was your topic comment and my question. The transfer market has largely been dead as a Do-Do in L2. You only have to look at the BBC daily transfer listings from the end of the season.( They miss a few btw) The market is largely dead in reality. I don’t fall for commercial spin!

Exactly, I'm sick to death of watching teams like Crawley, Morecambe, Barrow etc running rings round us time after time ....

I may be wrong, but my memory was that Parky left us with a decimated squad that Stuart re-built.

I've done a bit of research, and in that season Stuart had only 15 players in the squad that started more than 10 games in the whole season and he brought in 8 of them. One of those was Marshall, who had only started 8 the season before and Stuart got a tune out of.

In fact the only players he was left with that started more than 10 games were Darby (19) & McMahon (28) who shared the same position, Marshall (41), Clarke (28), McArdle (25), Meredith (44) & Hanson (13). No-one in the rest of the squad started more than 9 matches.

Stuart brought in Doyle, Law, Dieng, Vince, Wyke, Hiwula, Cullen, & NKP most of who were the backbone of his team. Of the players he brought in, only 3 of them played less than 40 games (Dieng, who was injured, Hiwula & Wyke who only came in January. Kilgallon, who Stuart also signed, would more than likely have played 40 games if he hadn't been injured.

That indicates to me that Stuart built that team and Parky didn't leave us with a squad capable of getting to the play off final. Now you could argue that Cullen had been here the season before, but it was still a new loan that Stuart arranged, and it's counter balanced by him playing Marshall, who Parky would absolutely have released if he wasn't contracted.

Of the squad for the playoff final, Stuart brought in 6 of the players who started and of those on the bench, only Darby pre-existed Stuart taking over, meaning only 6 of the 17 man squad were brought in by Parky.

Please god, let them be of the Lee Evans, Josh Cullen & Reece Burke standard rather than Tom Bola, Nevers, Costello, Lord Lucan, Afoka & Co.

I agree to a certain extent, but at the point before Lawn and Parkinson left, we were a relatively stable club on the up. Unfortunately for us we got a megalomaniac as an owner who ripped the heart and soul out of the club and we still haven’t recovered, even though he’s been gone a few years now. What a legacy.

Stable in what sense Wakey? The club were heavily in debt to Lawn and he wanted out and his money back. That’s not stability, that’s beholden to money lenders, either private or commercial. Rupp and not the lunatic added stability in fairness . Like they say “ Until next time” . What we never ever want is the Man U model where someone purchases the club based on the purchase price added to club debt. Boy did the Glaziers know how a scam works.
