Wrexham paying over £1m today for defender Lewis Brunt after just one season of L2 football under his belt by the age of 23. Mansfield were trying to sign him on a perm too but sounds like Wrexhams contract blew them out the water. Crazy money in the lower leagues looks like it's spinning round one more time!

Ok, but they finished 7 ahead so you are still wrong. Go back and add them from match 16 using wki. Green is a win, yellow a draw.. if they were ahead on the day he was appointed it was because they had played more as after both had played 16 they had less.

Both had played 17 and MK were five places ahead of us. The difference is he took over a poorly performing team with another managers players and improved our play and position and it bodes well for this season

The squad last season was overly bloated .
Yes 16 have left , but 13 of them, never got anywhere near the first team squad and by general opinion, were no where good enough.
I said earlier in this thread , we were not far off last season. The stupid home defeat to Crawley was criminal and very costly.
Ga with the players he wants and a pre - season , will have us around the playoff's, if not higher.
We need a fair wind and a bit of luck, but i think we will not be far off,

We're about to start our sixth season in league 2. There should be no room for 'not far off' at this football club.

There are 23 other clubs trying to achieve the same thing,
We have no god given right to be promoted.
No one has said they are happy to hang around in league 2.
I have more confidence in Graham Alexander to get us up, than any manager we have had for the past 6 seasons

Why dont you keep sticking your head in the sand and accepting mediocrity?

You must be utterly deluded if the last 5/6 years havent told you anything.

just out of interest, how much of his personal wealth should Mr Rupp put into the club.
£1- 2 -3 million and if we fail to get promoted sack off Graham Alexander and start all over again.
If he is true to his word and is trying to gain ownership of the stadium, what is that going to cost £4 million at a guess.
Hand on heart, how much or your family's money would anyone of us risk, if we were in his position.
Its very easy sitting here behind the keyboard and calling for this and that to be spent, when its not your money.
No one is happy being in league two, no one is a happy clapper, we all want the same thing promotion out of this division and hopefully higher in future season's, but without a bottomless pot of money, it has to be done the way the club are trying to achieve it.

You don’t buy a football club if you’re not prepared to lose a lot of money.

We may well have recruited well. We may well get promoted. Id just like to see a statement of intent to say we are going for it, we promised you change and thanks for your continued support.

It seems like hallow words, false promises, corner cutting and hoping for the best so far this summer.....

Many thought Gillingham were the team to beat when they were taken over and money thrown at the squad that finished very well under Neil Harris and that didn't turn out too well, as we know no guarantees in football.

Well he is at least £6 million out of pocket, from his initial purchase and did he not put money in to help cover the covid season.
Will only see a return if he manages to sell the club for more than he paid, which looks a long shot currently or we do manage to climb the divisions.

I our case Stephan was very naive and for some unknown reason put all his trust in his bank manager and the con man, having said that after getting so near in Stuarts 2nd spell he probably thought he'd struck gold, rubbing shoulders with the FL hierarchy on the hallowed turf at Wembley.

Lyle Taylor is another experienced EFL striker who has dropped to L2 after signing for Colchester today. Had a pretty poor L1 spell last season after barely playing for 18 months previously.

I have no up to date information as to Rupp’s personal wealth, which was reported to be around £100 million in 2018. However if it has kept pace with inflation, then it should be worth in excess of £120 million.
I would anticipate buying the stadium would be in excess of £6 million as the Flamingo Land pension fund will want capital to invest in schemes which will generate an equivalent sum to that raised by the rent.
Rupp will have the asset, which will mean City as an option could become more attractive to future buyers.
Risking some money to get City back into League One, may well be worth a risk. Say 6-8% of his net worth.
There are only so many Porsches you can have and they…..will lose value in the long run.

It all went downhill since Edin left. We were a L1 side when he was in charge. Went closer to the Championship than Lawn and Rhodes ever got.

Lots of the players that have left, will not have been on big wages and the loan players, their clubs will more than likely have been paying a good portion of their wages.
Taylor, Chapman, Platt, Ridehaugh and Derbyshire, probably the bigger earners who have left.
Scarcevic wont be on peanuts, the other three signings more than likely on similar money to the ones mentioned who have left
Halliday will have got a rise with the new contract and no doubt the options players had built in increases Walker, Smallwood and Pointon

I can tell you that is what Graham Alexander said to me at training when I told him this is a massive season with regards fans expectations and what we've had to put up with over the last 5 or so seasons even saying although his predecessor got us to a play off semi final the football especially at Valley Parade was dire, we don't want to hear "they came and parked the bus" its your job to find a way around that situation, to which he acknowledged and said promotion is the goal, would it convince you if Rupp came out with that statement, as we all know he's clueless with regards football so I know who I believe.
