Nowadays, numbers 8, 9 & 10 are names of positions, I mean, what the chuff is a "number 8". In the 70s in some teams, it was the inside forward, now it seems to be a withdrawn midfielder.

Bring back the 442 with 7 & 11 on the wings, 5&6 at CH, 2&3 at fullback, 4&10 in midfield & 8&9 upfront.

It may not be the done thing but they must realise they won't be donning Claret & Amber again unless there is a massive injury crisis.
I said at the time Kevin McDonald took the care takers job he should give serious thought to whether he had a future with regards his playing career and gave examples, unfortunately one of my two examples seems to be playing out, I get it when your coming to the end of your career as a sports man you want to hang onto it but the odds IMO were stacked against him, although when called upon last season he didn't let us down but we have to understand Alexander is getting a squad together with regards the future

 

Just reading through the list of allocated numbers, 17 was missing when the list was published, but they were clearly confident of signing (or had already signed) Wright at that point, and he's taken that number. Looking further down, 21 is also missing - is there anything significant in that? Another signing imminent? Otherwise, why not just give 21 to Callum Johnson (who currently has 22) and move everyone up? There are several significant gaps. Does anyone know how numbers are allocated (apart from the obvious ones higher up)?
