You might be reading too much into this - maybe he just sh1t himself and needed a change of clothes. Happens all the time to my little one at nursery, hardly ever comes home in the clothes we sent him in.

You would think a relatively local club would look to invite us along on the basis we would take a few hundred fans if it was a stones throw away. Guiseley would be ok for a Saturday for example, though I think they are playing that day.

Scunthorpe still being a basket case club is no surprise.

There is a fixture at Pickering town next Tuesday which I am going to which I presume will be the youngsters but they may play some of the seniors in that.

I think Guiseley muckied their ticket during the Parkinson era, by getting greedy and charging our fans the earth. I went that day and we were woeful, beaten comfortably with little effort being shown by our players

Yeah it was really just an example of a team a couple of train stops away that people could jump on at short notice which would make them a little cash. Huddersfield Town are actually playing there on Saturday and they have moved the game to 12.30pm to allow people to see the England game after. Our game at Chorley is still at 3pm is it not.

Yes as it stands, still 3pm. Strange it hasn't yet been changed. Also I wonder why we don't have friendlies with Leeds & Town. Do you reckon it is a policing issue? It would certainly get the fans through the turnstiles

Police costs make it prohibitive. It's why the old West Riding Cup stopped.
We did play Guiseley on a Saturday a few years ago when Bowyer was in charge. Easy run for most fans.

Looking around local clubs, it looks like all have a friendly booked in for the 13th as it stands. Reckon we're going to struggle to find a club still looking for a match with less than 2 weeks notice.

surely one would cancel at the thought of getting more cash. For example Avenue are at home to Eccleshill that day, who do you think they would rather play.

Avenue can Just bung eccleshill a few quid and ask them to step aside. Im sure any non league club in the same position would do the same

Agree, they will find it difficult at this stage. I just looked at Brighouse & Liversedge and they both have fixtures planned

I'd possibly look at seeing if we can use them both and possibly see if we can come to an agreement to do an alternative match like a lot of teams do and have a 60 minute match against both of them. That way we get up to 60 minutes into every player and neither club loses out, if they then want to have another 60 minute match against each other. Everyone benefits from it, we get our minutes and there can be some sort of agreement between the 3 clubs about splitting the revenue in favour of BPA and Eccleshill. The one day will probably make them more than the 2 friendlies against the u19s combined.

It will be tough to find a match at this late notice as clubs will have games arranged and added we will only be able to play away as we won't want to risk the pitch and a lot of clubs will be in that position so we might find an opposition but have no pitch. If we do end up with a match I think the most likely option is a behind closed doors match at a training ground.

Chorley now been moved to a 2pm KO. Being a good 1 hour drive from the Bradford area (depending where you are and traffic permitting of course) this still leaves people cutting it very fine if they are wanting to be back to a certain place for the England game

I was considering going but just won’t bother now.
    Should have been 12pm KO.
First friendly always a farce anyway, it’s the Altrincham game the week before the season that I’ll pay more attention to.

I can get a works team together if they can't fill the Scunthorpe void, promise no hard tackling or rough tactics from the Leeds and Huddersfield fans that would make my works team

To be honest it was something that was spotted a mile off. England finishing 1st in their group was always leading to this game, and changing the kick off in the week before tends to wind people up. realistically a 1pm kick off should have always been pencilled in incase this happened. I'm sure a number who do go over will find somewhere in Chorley to stay back and watch the game. I can see many Huddersfield fans handing round in Guiseley on Saturday too after the game rather than heading back to Huddersfield.
