I can see why GA would want him back. He knows the club and majority of players, hasn’t let us down in either spell, has an eye for goal and knows what the manager wants. With a decent run he could get stronger in that LWB role. If we bring someone else in, they’re probably going to be stronger defensively but weaker in attack unless we pay top dollar.

I was thinking more from a financial viewpoint, but understand your point about squad size.

The beanpole from Crawley ( Arsenal?) is a decent keeper but boy did he wind me up with his time wasting and flopping on the ball . Pickfordesque. A trend he started and it completely spoils the game . Two hats the pair of them !

I dunno if I'd go back down that route, but GA said months ago he will try for Wright once again. He looked off the pace here the second time around.

There was those text leaks of his last season that made their way onto Twitter with some odd snapchat pictures too, fairly certain from memory it was around him and a Plymouth player had both been seeing the same Plymouth girl at the same time without the other knowing? Something like that was going around social media last Sept/Oct ish? Dunno if that causes his head to be out of it, but something had certainly altered in the year he had away from us.

Part of football now, every team does it, cant see it going anywhere. The Hughes season, I'm sure we conceded the most in the league past 90 minutes and would have finished 3rd if games ended bang on 90. I remember going through all the fixtures between us and the top 7 one bored evening to check :D

...... if we'd have had a bit more game smarts (time wasting) about us that season, we could we'll have been in L1!

Either that or he came to us unfit from not playing regular for 12 months

The other frustrating thing with keepers especially in the premiership is when they try to walk the ball to the halfway line presumably to entice an opposition player out of position.....

He had a disappointing start to the loan he was getting better as he played more games and was instrumental in the successful finish to the season.

That’s maybe excusable when he signed in January but not four months down the line.
Not sure it was fitness so much as he just seemed a bit lethargic at times to me

GA has obviously seen something he thinks he can work with and improve on. He is on the training ground with him day in and day out.

Wright has talent, evident in his first spell with us. He came in this time during a tough period - new gaffer, new system, club on a bad run and discontent in the fanbase. He hasn't played much at Plymouth so confidence will be down and he is only 22 years old.

Yeh we have plenty of space. If we start to run out then just don't register McDonald or Oliver.

What do you consider to be top dollar? Wright is on championship wages (of which we paid a significant chunk last season). He won't come cheap and I think we could get better for the same sort of money.

Calling utter bollocks on it, but hey ho, it's a rumour and we are bone dry for those at the minute.

About a month back, a York fan at work said they wanted Vadaine Oliver back but he isn't interested in dropping to NL .... same bloke today has said that they enquired about Smallwood too recently and were shot down instantly. Again, calling nonsense on it. I'm fairly certain this will be his last season here but cant see a move to York happening.

Can you ask if they'd like to take McDonald in the meantime?

Agree. I'd really hope that the club are going to be ruthless. I'd be trying to move Richards on. I genuinely think we need a left side equivalent on Halliday to push on. A real quality, Cadden type. I guess this is where Sharpe will earn his coin and whether Rupp will prove his intention with investment. I'd be looking at this in addition to Wright

He would very likely play LWB.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a notification come through that he has retired at some stage in the next week.

I think we appointed David Sharpe to try and remove the "shambles" tag. We will always have an issue as long as Stefan Rupp owns the club because he isn't exactly hands on but until he is bought out we are stuck with him.
Personally I am neither up the club management's backside nor am I critical of most of the decisions they make. I am getting a bit long in the tooth so I prefer to take a step back before I criticise any football or non football decisions (things are never as straight forward as they seem). That is way I sometimes wind people up when I think they are going over the top with their criticism. It's never personal.
