Just spoken to some Notts fans in Berlin and all I'll say is that Baldwin sounds like a downgrade on another, not great, defender we've just moved on.

Fair enough we'd been drinking all day but these lads were absolutely delighted that they'd managed to find someone to take him.

Don't shoot the messenger but it'll be interesting to see if they're right.

Not surprised they're delighted. They've strengthened their defence with the addition of Platt and Bedeau, not convinced at all that we've strengthened ours so far.

 

Are we in line for money from Alvin Ayman ? Former scholar I think went to wolves and has signed for Liverpool - deal apparently worth 1.5 million ?

 

We have used those clauses for a number of years, going right back to McBurnie , so I speculate it’s a yes ?

 

I would hope so if nothing else I believe Ryan has learnt from Julian how to compose a deal when you let a kid with potential leave the club, I had to Google "Ayman only joined Wolves from Bradford City last summer" but has played U21 games and looked impressive, oh for the days they would come through the ranks at Valley parade and we could see them perform a little like Deano and Stuart.

 

Maybe. But you are going off what Stockport fans say about him. And at the same time ignore what Notts County say about Baldwin.

Majority were glad to see the back of him. On paper im underwhelmed but like any player he deserves a chance to impress us so we can draw our own conclusions.

 

Unlike Croasdale eh, who in your view was essential to sit on the bench and replace Smallwood when he tired ! We have enough squad players. What we need are ones who can displace Smallwood not act as his back up, we have that in Gilliead. GA will start as he ended with Walker & Smallwood as the number 4's

 

Middle of the Road signings so far which in all honesty I thought we would have finally learned our lessons but we haven’t.

My prediction is yet another season of struggle we don’t have that top quality needed.

 

9% of the 10% that thought he was OK only thought that because of the entertainment value he provided. They didn't actually think he was a decent defender.

 

No more average than Platt was? It’s water under the bridge . As long as he’s not a retrograde step then fine but let’s be honest Platt wasn’t anything much more than average for the Division and he couldn’t pass greater than 10 yds to save his life . The best defenders got in the EFL L2 side , Platt wasn’t on the bench ! Let’s not forget , the player wanted to leave, irrespective of the reason, good luck with his move I say . We move on too.

 

By all accounts he had a great season in the NL during their promotion season, but failed to adapt to L2 football. Like all players, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until he’s played 10 games (unless he has stinkers in the first 5). But on first reflection it does look a poor signing, and not an improvement on the guy that left for Gibraltar (can’t even remember his name which says it all)

Platt is a solid defender. Could we have improved on him? Of course. Have we? I don't think so.

 

Depends, had he signed a pro contract? If he hadn't then you probably would just get the development fee based on the EPPP
