You only have to speak to Stockport fans to learn how excellent and influential he was for them when he did play.

He was one of the names mentioned by Simon Parker in the tanda and we desperately need some competition and cover for Smallwood.

 

I reckon we lost out in Croasdale he was strongly linked with us and I think judging by what I read just what we needed

 

As a Carlisle fan, I can honestly say I think Stockport are doing the right thing, WE, were caught woefully short. We came up against teams who were bigger, better, fitter and much, much more tactically aware.
Time will tell of course, however if they are not ready they will struggle, the gap is much bigger than any of us expected.

 

That's the guy I was trying to think of, for some reason I thought he played part in that great FA Cup win against Arsenal but that was in1965 he'd have left before than FA Cup game, 30,000 in attendance that day.

 

He's 29 and played one season of league football. He ain't the big loss people are banging on about

 

He was a regular for 2 seasons in the football league for Stockport and by all accounts a very consistent performer.

I'd never heard of him before the rumours this summer, but the Stockport fans seem to speak highly of him.

If we were in for him, he probably knew he would be understudy to Smallwood, would a regular for last season's champions be happy with that?.Port Vale probably offering him better terms too.

 

He's played in a team with huge budget advantages and so surrounded by decent players. I'm not suggesting he's a bad player but missing out on a player with that record is nowt to get excited about

 

When and how often did play is the question, which tells everyone why he was not offered a deal?

 

I very much doubt that Idle, they are £8.5 million in debt. That’s why Robbie Williams did a benefit fundraising concert for them I believe? A boyhood fan , you would think with his wealth , he would have bought them out with his pocket money? Strange to me for sure.

Just what we needed? So where does he fit in? Next to Smallwood? Or we stripping Smallwood of captaincy and moving to bench?

That would mean Walker, Sarcevic, Bobby and Pattison fighting for one shirt.

 

He only started 27 games last season. He was a regular squad member but not a regular starter.

 

Their fans knew him as “No Croasdale no win.” I think he was pretty instrumental to their team.
We were possibly never in for him anyway and it’s irrelevant now. League 2 won’t be as easy as I thought it was going to be though. There are some good signings being made.

 

As Idle rightly said, he's not really a complement to Smallwood and Richie is more than likely gonna play every game being captain. Vale more than likely need Croasdale more.than we.do and he deserves to be playing regularly.

 

Despite what people say it never is.

 

He would have been great to bring on when we’re were protecting a lead or under pressure he is a ball winner and by all accounts good at holding the ball up. We have only Smallwood and Gillead who likes to get forward
