Oduor has loads of ability but lacks heart and a bit of stamina but is a useful player especially off the bench

 

Patto, Walker and even Sarcevic have all had injury issues, I think that Oduor and Bobby will get game time.

 

Wyke at it again on Insta. Videos of him and Cook saying 442. Apparently Cooks wife said something in response but deleted it.

 

Or maybe as someone else said, we use Oduor as a LWB, position he was signed for! Obviously to battle out with a LWB, replacing Ridehalgh.

That frees up Richards to battle with Kelly for the LCB role, a position he played at Wolves.

 

Still cannot see it happening, but if it did, shades of Sir Bobby and John Hawley spring to mind, as a possible pairing.

 

I think Wyke wants the move (why wouldnt he) but has to be the right package. He has held talks twice before apparently, but the numbers didnt work for Wigan or us. Now he is a free agent that could change.

If it is happening (or happened) it will probably be announced just before the fans forum? Id love him back but gotta be realistic, he wont be cheap and could easily be Wyke just messing around.

Folk dismissed Smallwood signing for weeks on end. He had been signed up around 3-4 weeks before announced.

 

Cook and Wyke , would be some strike force for league 2.
I just can not see it happening . Cook, Kavanagh, Young, Smith, Oliver.

I noticed Parker (yes on holiday but wasnt at the start) and T&A are quiet and not said a thing either way. With amount of questioning aimed at them they normally say 1 way or another.

I said very early on this thread Charlie is a very nice guy having worked with him on a red card appeal. But not for us. His health hit record at Wigan, tragic as it was, has not helped and he didn’t get any momentum on loan at Rotherham. I thought someone on here said he signed for Chesterfield.
In my view, as I said before I think he will do a job in NL but not much higher.

 

He was signed for that position yes, but the minute the ink was dry he made it quite clear he doesn't see himself as a LWB. Mistakes were definitely made with that signing and due diligence doesn't appear to have been done. It's a position we desperately need to prioritise imo, so I don't want us using a player that wouldn't be fully committed to the role.

I think you are wrong about Wyke not being able to do a job higher than NL and it's actually quite disrespectful to say that. The issue for me is wages, and if it's a choice between signing him or bringing in a quality LWB and a quality CB, I'd rather we spent the money on the latter. If Rupp is being generous and there's enough for both then fair enough, but I doubt very much that is the case.

 

Think we'd need wingers of the calibre of Mega and Hendrie to replicate that strike force and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Aren't Wyke and Cook very similar types of players in terms of attributes, the space they like to inhabit and the chances they want to see created? Really can only see it working if only one plays and they're frequently rotated.

 

His health record shouldn’t be a concern, his heart will literally be in as good condition, if not better, than most of our squad now.

Wyke will sign for an EFL club for sure, and still do a good job.

I bet, for example, that every club in league 2 would love to be able to sign him, the fact that the favourites Chesterfield appear to be interested seems to support this.

 

Not disrespectful Petrov, personally I liked the guy having worked with him. I’m just voicing my personal opinion based on what I said above. For Charlie’s sake I quietly hope you’re right but not for us in my view.

If he comes to this level next year he’ll be on for 20+ goals, happy to bet against anyone who says otherwise.

 

Again, casually ignoring his goals in L1 last season - because it doesnt fit your narrative.

And using a Championship spell to suggest he can on longer hack L2 is laughable!

 

How’s he gone from doing well in league 1 literally last season to not being able to hack league 2? It makes no sense.
