He scored 30 goals in academy last season, had scouts from the PL watch him, so why not. It looks like he could be one that slipped through the gazing eyes of Championship and Premier League clubs when he was 15/16.

We gave Pointon a go so could easily do the same with Ibbitson as a 5th choice. If we don't take a punt on our best youngsters from time to time we will never know if they are good enough or not.

 

I didn’t think any different Brad that’s why I expressed my thoughts, which were akin to @Park bantam . Yes agreed re extension. As good as any RWB in the bottom two divisions perhaps. A great signing .

 

Dont see where Oduor fits in at all. He probably around 5th choice for that AM role. Walker, Pointon, Pattison, Sarcevic all ahead of him.

 

Maybe LWB? I think he'd be great there, not sure why he has to insist he's a no.10

 

Maybe oduor as been told that the only way he gets in the first 11 is by playing his natural position which was LWB.

 

My issue is we have got 16 players off the wage bill, whether released, sold or loan ended. And we have only brought 4 players in. So I dont really understand why McDonald and Oliver need to be off the books to bring in more faces.

Appreciate we only paid a proportion of the loanees wages, and some were kids, and part of the returning loanees wages were covered by other clubs. But the 4 we have brought in will not be 'high earners'.

 

Well, he needs to stop insisting and be bloody told where he is playing then!!! But then we have Richards and arguably Gilliead for that role already - plus we absolutely need another 1 in!!!

 

Well if it goes the way he set out at the end of the season Alexander is hoping to bring Wright for LWB and Oyegoke for central defender so that would be two positions covered

 

And if that is the case, where is the improvement on 9th place to top 3?

 

Are people still banging on about Oduor being a LWB?

He’s never been one, mind you he’s never been an AM either.

If you speak to people who watched him at his former clubs they tell you that he was a winger and that both Barnsley and Hartlepool tried to convert him into a LWB but gave it up as a bad job and then we signed him.

We might have signed him with the intention of playing him at LWB having seen Barnsley and Hartlepool trying him there but he’s never really been one.

 

Probably looking from Alexander's perspective that he'd got a settled squad that had started to produce results and he's happy with the players that are ready to come back into the fold from injury. I think we are one or two players away from a finished squad, another centre back and a left back/wing back. And a striker dependant on off loading Oliver

I kind of agree with this.
We should definitely be able to bring in a LWB and a CB before anyone leaves and then replace McDonald and Oliver later if / when they move on (hopefully with Croasdale and Wyke lol).

Maybe we’re holding out for certain targets at LWB and CB, maybe we’ve missed out on a couple or maybe Rupp is bullshitting again and we’re skint. Who knows?

We've let Platt go - a solid, seasoned, league two central defender. We need to replace him with someone similar and not a young lad who's trying to play his first full season in the EFL or a highly rated right back being shoe-horned into an unnatural position.

 

That's why I was surprised to see him used in the kit launch video as I thought he'd be one we would try to move out, either on loan or permanently as he doesn't seem to be a player GA particularly favours. Maybe it was just a case of using whichever players weren't away on holiday at the time they shot the video.

 

Wright is not a full back/wing back. Oyegoke i'd have back as I think there is something to work on and he can cover various positions but Wright I wouldn't have back.

 

Yeah. Unless McDonald, Oliver, and Wilson move on I can't see us signing more than 2 more purely down to squad size. The "extra" funds Rupp was talking about, that may have been a case of if Alexander needed it, he may feel he doesn't.
Remember Jake Young and Alex Pattison will be 2 players we didn't really have last season.

 

If two do go then I've no doubt that we'll make an addition.

For what it's with though I remember Tottenham trying Harry Kane and Man Utd trying Marcus Rashford due to a huge injury list so, clearly on a much lower scale, I'm happy with a young lad who's done well in the u18s being kept around the squad as a 5th choice striker.
